RIM's latest BlackBerry Bold offers an upgrade rather than a revolution. The BlackBerry Bold 9780 looks identical to its predecessor, but features more memory and the new BlackBerry 6 OS. A refreshed home screen, various software enhancements and a better Web browser are improvements.
Pros:
- BlackBerry 6 OS
- More RAM than predecessor
- Best-in-class keyboard and e-mail
Cons:
- Browser much improved but still inferior to iPhone/Android
- BlackBerry 6 OS better suited to touchscreen navigation
- Less apps than competitors

BlackBerry Bold 9780
Tweet Research In Motion (RIM) hasn't taken a step in a Bold (excuse the pun) new direction with the new 9780. Instead the Canadian smartphone manufacturer has enhanced what was good with the old Bold 9700 and addressed its issues.
Pros:
- New OS is a lot better to use than the one on the previous Bold
- better performance and camera
Cons:
- Not many changes in terms of hardware and virtually identical styling to the old model
- no FM radio
- no touch-screen

BlackBerry Bold 9780: Not So Bold
You'll notice this review is shorter than our usual smartphone reviews. The reason, as I've already mentioned a couple of times in the article, is quite simple: the Bold 9780 brings absolutely nothing new to the table in terms of hardware, and even the core software is more than half a year old.

Blackberry 9780
The key question here is it worth moving from BB 9700 to BB 9780? My personal answer will be a resounding "yes". I like an improved camera and the black body. Despite certain reservations I became a fan of the new OS.

The latest good looking and the fastest BlackBerry available today for the modern businessman. The best thing about BlackBerry devices is that they are like a pair of Russian Matryoshka dolls, where the bigger toy houses a smaller one inside.

- No front facing camera
- Apps don't work without BlackBerry data plans

- Blacked-out look is hawt
- Doesn't mess with the success of the 9700 - great feeling device
- great keyboard
- BlackBerry 6 - yay for webkit browser and universal search
- More memory and megapixels than its predecessor the 9700
Cons:
- Need a way to disable the homescreen views on BlackBerry 6 (a lot of accidental scrolling going on
- BlackBerry 6 really makes you wish there was a touchscreen and a bit more screen size to work with
- No WiFi N support
- when sibling devices like the Pearl 3G and Torch 9800 do have it

Editorial: BlackBerry Bold 9780 vs iPhone 4
One of the questions I get asked the most is "What's should I buy? iPhone or BlackBerry?" If you asked me 3 months ago I probably would have said iPhone without skipping a heartbeat.

BlackBerry Bold 9780 Review
The BlackBerry Bold 9780's key new feature is OS 6, as many of its physical and technological specifications are unchanged from its the 9700 model. The ergonomics are mostly fine, but we'd have preferred to see a faster processor in addition to the internal memory boost.
