Very nice all-around headphone. Does everything well. The standout for me was the tight, fast, detailed bass, some of the best I've heard. I won't go on about all the good qualities of these cans, others have already pointed them out. I had 2 minor complaints and 1 major problem with these.

transparent and detailed headphone

these 'phones have been sounding better and better during the month so far that I've had them (I was told they may take 300 hrs to "burn-in" and so far its true that they've gotton better and better as I approach that number of hrs).

Comfortable; Durable; Good Bass; Good soundstage; Great clarity; Great Sound

I purchased the DT880 Pros as my first open/semi open headphones, after returning the DT770 Pro 80s due to earaches from the excessive bass. I am a bit of an analytical headphone person with certain genres I listen to.

Built well; high quality materials; soft earpads and headband; analytical; quick; drum-tight sub bass

picky with amps and mastering; heavy cable; drivers press against ears; sibilant; metallic highs; bland mid range; uninvolving; not much musicality

Beyerdynamic DT880

Headphones don't get more comfortable than these DT880s, with their soft cushion and perfect grip. Sound is pleasing, too, thanks to an impressive all-round ability.

Beyerdynamic DT 880 review Review

The Beyerdynamic DT 880s have a semi-open design that combines the attributes of open and closed headphones -- their external sound isn't as loud as it would be with an open design. Comfort levels were among the best we've experienced.

Very comfortable; Padded aluminum storage case; Comes with additional 1/4-inch adaptor and 5m extension cord

Expensive; Sometimes sound a bit narrow

Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro

The DT 880 Pro headphones provide wonderful accuracy and will help engineers and musicians get the most out of their mixes, and music lovers enjoy their stereo systems. Other comparable pairs we've tested include the Sennheiser HD6 Mix , the Bowers & Wilkins P5 Series 2 , and the Sony MDR-1A .

Superb audio performance; Semi-open design provides wonderful sense of space; Comfortable fit

Hardwired cable; Design leaks sound outward

Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro Review

Beyerdynamic has long made useful audio tools for sound engineers and musicians that can also be appreciated by more casual music lovers. The DT 880 Pro headphones, at $219, are an excellent investment for anyone looking for an accurate sound signature, whether for the mixing and mastering process, or simply enjoying audio at home. It should be noted the headphones aren't an ideal choice for use with mobile devices—the cable has no inline remote, and impedance makes them a better match for pro gear and stereo systems. But if you're looking for accuracy for critical listening applications in the price range, the DT 880 Pro won't disappoint, and earns our Editors' Choice. Design The DT 880's massive circumaural (over the ear) earpads are perfect circles covered in plush velour and offer ample cushioning. The headband is also amply cushioned, and the headphones never feel uncomfortable—the frame is just massive and takes some getting used to. The outer panels are metallic grilles emb...

The Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro headphones deliver an accurate, powerful listening experience intended for musicians, sound engineers, and music lovers with stereo systems.

Beyerdynamic DT880 review

Beyerdynamic appears to have taken a leaf out of the car industry's book by keeping a product name from years ago, but then completely changing the design. No doubt this will ensure havoc on eBay in years to come...

Comfortable to wear; Very neutral sound

Less bassy than most headphones

Excellent

You may wonder why you would need a high-end pair of studio monitoring headphones for ham radio use. Put on a pair of these and you will immediately know the answer. First, these phones fit around, rather than on the ears, making them very comfortable, even when worn for long periods.
