The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim review – Something to Shout about

DOVAKHIIN! Dragonborn! The word vibrates through you, the thrum of power palpable. Deep inside you know this to be you, your true essence. Will you heed the call and save the world from the return of dragons? Or will you get married and open a shop with your spouse?

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Hearthfire

Home sweet home. Or something like that.

+ Added depth + Bigger houses + Different rooms

- Not a lot of customisation options - Limited appeal to casual gamers

I took an arrow to the knee...

It's easy to sit and point to the bugginess and cry foul, and in a lot of cases, that would be justified. But there is no denying the incredible depth Skyrim offers. There is just so much to see and do within this game; and you can easily bank on over a hundred hours of gameplay - several hundred...

Great game but also great bugs

Bethesda outdid itself once more with Skyrim, the 5th installment in The Elder Scrolls series. Great graphics and a music score that grows on you, the game is nevertheless plagued by the Curse of The Elder Scrolls i.e. Big Bad Bugs.

Challenging; Engaging Story Line; Gameplay; Graphics; Great Sound

Many Many Many Bugs

Review: Kinect Support for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

It seems like the perfect idea to integrate the voice command of the Kinect with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim ; as saying dragon shouts seemed like a match made in heaven. The end results however are occasionally useful, but overall may just add more frustration to your experience.

Dawnguard review: Our verdict on Skyrim's first DLC

A worthy chunk of DLC that fills Skyrim's already packed world map with new gear, enemies, and quests.

Over 20 hours of gameplay; Expanded vampire powers; New weapons to craft

Reused dungeon assets; Vampire Lord controls need work; Dawnguard quest not as fun

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Review

Skyrim is torn by civil war: A weakened Empire struggles to retain control of the province, while rebel Nords vie for self-determination. Dragons have returned after centuries, and nobody knows why. Undead infest the crypts, cairns, and barrows, and more dangerous things haunt deep Dwarven ruins.

Vast, content-filled world; hundreds of hours of stuff to do; good leveling system, fun combat, compelling story

Occasionally buggy; not the most graphically intense game ever

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Reviewed (360, PS3, PC)

When asked at the announcement of the next in The Elder Scrolls Series ‘Are you excited?' my exact reply was ‘Does a bear do his, you know, business in the woods? The 5th in the line of games from Bethesda, produced over a period of time spanning more than 20 years, has immediately convinced me that...

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Dragonborn Review

After being as disappointed as I was with the last big Skyrim DLC, Dawnguard , I was pretty skeptical about the next one, whatever it was going to be. But Bethesda Game Studios surprised me with Dragonborn , an add-on that takes you to an entirely separate landmass - the island of Solstheim - and...

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Wonder comes in many forms in Skyrim, and Bethesda shows us this wonder in many places and in many ways in one of their most enjoyable games yet. Wonder has always been at the heart of The Elder Scrolls. The wonder of discovering what sits on a mountain's peak.

PROS: Mayhem and wonder can lurk behind every bend, every hill, and every mountain; main quest line is an improvement from Oblivion; dual-wielding and Shouts make combat more fun; enchanting, making potions, and crafting weapons is easy, and for some, likely quite enjoyable

CONS: Technical issues could ruin moments for some players; it's too easy to go into "sneak" mode when backing up with the control stick
