This projector does a good job, reasonable 4K . Worst customer service I have ever experienced! So if it breaks down good luck fixing it. Amazon was happy to refund 5 stars to Amazon.

4K TVs are getting better and better each year, but if you're looking for sheer size, nothing comes close to a projector. The trade-off is that for good home cinema projection, there are certain limitations that come to play right off the bat.

Unimpressive black levels

BenQ W1700

Make no mistake, this is a good projector for the money. Skin tones are balanced, there's a good level of detail, and its upscaler is of a reasonable quaility that means even your DVD library won't go to waste. There are a few aspects that we'd like to see improved, but on the whole, for anyone...

Sharp and crisp picture; Balanced colour range; Impressive upscaler; Easy to use; Small size

Not as punchy as we would like; Motion could be smoother

The BenQ CineHome W1700 4K projector is priced at just $2,499 and also adds in HDR (high dynamic range) to provide surprisingly high picture quality. For our review, we set up the BenQ W1700 in our home theatre and aimed it at our 150-inch screen.

Affordable; impressive quality for the price; HDR10 compatible; easy to set up; compact unit

Black levels and 4K upscaling could be better

BenQ W1700 (HT2550) 4K DLP Projector

Like most of the BenQ range of projectors we have tested here at AVForums, the W1700 is a well-built example that feels sturdy enough to be portable...

Offers 8.3 million pixels on screen; Image is sharp when set up correctly with difficult focus control; Tracks Rec.709 colour well in calibrated mode,...

Mediocre black levels; Lighter edge surrounding the image; Doesn't cover the wide colour gamut; Colour performance poor out of the box to Rec.709; HDR...

If you've been looking for a moderately-priced projector that's well-equipped to deliver both quality 4K and HDR home cinema experiences, the W1700 makes a very compelling case for itself.

Great 4K experience; Surprisingly good speaker

HDR isn't quite as dazzling as it is on a TV; No built-in 4K Blu-ray player

Very good performance and value for the price

The "BenQ W1700 4K UHD HDR CineHome Projector, Home Cinema, DLP, 2200 Lumens" could be used for presentations to a business audience and also, perhaps primarily, for entertainment purposes at home.
