BenQ TK700STi 4K gaming projector review

While its refresh rate and response time positions it as a gamer's projector, the BenQ TK700STi is a great option for anyone if native 4K content is the goal. It's a great product at a phenomenal price point, with just a few small user-experience hitches.

Gorgeous and bright picture; 4K at 60Hz, with HDR; Very impressive response rate;

No Netflix; Fiddly onboard buttons; Weird Android TV integration

BenQ TK700STi Review

The BenQ TK700STi ($1,699) is a home projector that combines 4K (3,840-by-2,160-pixel) resolution and HDR support with a short enough lag time for 60Hz input to justify its billing as a 4K HDR gaming projector. Like almost any gaming projector, though, it can also serve nicely for watching movies and video, particularly in ambient light. Plus, it does the directly competitive Optoma UHD35 one better by adding an Android TV 9.0 dongle for streaming. Even if you're only an occasional gamer, the TK700STi is worth considering if you're in the market for a 4K home entertainment projector.High Resolution, Low Lag By 1080p standards, the BenQ's input lag of 16.66 milliseconds (ms) isn't considered short these days. It's more in the realm of being the longest lag that a serious gamer would consider. But the TK700STi's response is faster than all but a handful of projectors can manage at 4K resolution and 60Hz. Even the 34ms I measured for the Xgimi Aura, our Editors' Choice award winner f...

BenQ's TK700STi will thrill gamers its low input lag, but its 4K resolution with HDR and integrated Android TV for streaming also make it a solid home entertainment projector—if you can stomach some rainbow artifacts.

4K resolution using TI's XPR fast-switch pixel shifting; Short lag times for both 4K and 1080p; Good out-of-box color accuracy; Supports HDR10 and HLG HDR; Integrated Android TV 9.0 for streaming

Relatively high black level; Rainbow artifacts were more frequent and more obvious than usual for DLP projectors
