Bayonetta 2 review

The rhythm of combat remains the same, though it's hard to complain when it's riffing off such a heady beat, where chimed enemy attacks are lithely dodged into slo-mo pugilism, where impossible combos culminate with a 20-foot boot weaved from hair crashing from the heavens and where spinning amidst...

Bayonetta 2 Review

By all sensible and logical business reasoning, Bayonetta 2 shouldn't exist. The first didn't sell anything worth a damn, despite it (insert ‘probably' here for the opinion-as-fact-Nazis) having the best combat system of any third person action game made and being absolutely bashit mental in many of...

Bayonetta 2 (WiiU) - Review

Conceptually, 2010's Bayonetta is a very difficult character to describe. She's a centuries old witch with the demeanor of a sexy librarian, wears guns on her feet as high heels, and dons a skintight suit made out of her own hair, which itself leaves her body to become giant hair monsters that fight...

Bayonetta 2 Review – Kicking Ass with a Pair of Gun-Boots has Never Looked or Felt Better

I've seen the first Bayonetta every once in a while when shopping for video games, but I never had a chance to play it because I did not own a PS3. So when Bayonetta 2 came out on Wii U I was very happy to finally get a chance to try the sequel.

Bayonetta 2 review

Unlikely though it once seemed, the sassy witch with the killer heels/hair combo is back, 100% exclusive to Wii U. First-off, let me reassure the original's many fans that nothing's been dumbed down compared to the original Bayonetta .

Beautiful and massively versatile fighting system; Looks absolutely sensational; especially in the latter half; Immense replay value thanks to ranking system; Excellent online co-op side mode

Fights can get so busy you can't make out what's happening; The pacing is poor for much of the game's first half

Bayonetta 2

It's rare to have a game prove its greatness in the loading screen. But Bayonetta did. While waiting for the level to load, some dark programming magic allowed you to practice different attack combos, with a counter to show which moves you hadn't tried yet.

"Maybe my fault, but some additional clarification would be good"

I got the game I wanted, I suppose. But I expected there to be a copy of Bayonetta inside along with Bayonetta 2. That's what I imagined was in the case. Not that anything on the website lead me to believe that would be the case, but neither did anything say it wouldn't … so I crossed my fingers.

Bayonetta 2 Review

Some forces in the universe can't help but clash, what with opposites attracting, causality, and any number of unentertaining laws of physics, space, and time, so it's no surprise when Platinum Games thrusts heroine Bayonetta back into a war with the forces of light.

Weapon variety and combos; Smooth difficulty curve; Story campaign doesn't overstay its welcome; Far more self-aware this time around; NIntendo themed costumes come with special weapons; Tag Climax mode (mechanics also appear in single-player

Feels like a last-gen game at times; Far more self-aware this time around

"Amnesia made Bayonetta"

Story: As ludicrous as both the first and second story are, they're a delight. Purposely filled with odd one liners and cliches up the wazoo, yet it all works. Both games delivered wonderfully on this over-the-topness.

Good Story; Great Sound

Mediocre Gameplay
