With its excellent combat and spectacular set-pieces, the Wii U's Bayonetta 2 will rightly make PS4 and Xbox One owners green with jealousy

This game is everything I hoped it would be and so much more. It's not just more Bayonetta, which would have been fine, it is more like an expansion on the universe that Bayonetta exists in. It makes Bayonetta seem like the preview to this game.

Known previously for its controversial exclusivity announcement, there is no doubt that Bayonetta 2 will instead be revered for creating a new standard in the action game genre moving forward.

Bayonetta was a cult hit when it first came out on the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms. Its burlesque hero and over the top action was a huge assault on casual action game enthusiasts. Never the less, Bayonetta found her devoted audience, and over time more people discovered the game.

It's been four years since Bayonetta came out, and given how much of a veritable romp it was – it was hard to believe that Platinum could ever top what they did with the game. Further titles they put out, including Metal Gear Rising and Wonderful 101, managed to do just as good a job, if not better...

If there's one thing the Wii U does well, it's the number of exclusive games it has compared to the PS4 and Xbox One . Its sales may not be a great success story, but at a time when both of its rivals are struggling to stand out from one another, the Wii U is streets ahead when it comes to providing...

The story is very silly

A very "stupid", but fun action game that's at the top of it's class. And there's nothing wrong with being stupid.

Bayonetta 2 lives up to its reputation and the Nintendo pedigree. Its sexually suggestive violence is fun and light-hearted, and surprisingly fits perfectly amongst the Wii U line-up with vibrant flair, and an experience not offered by Nintendo's own library.

It's a Platinum Game first off, so don't expect any semblance of a cohesive story. Yet Bayonetta 2's story is increasingly better than the first one, mainly due to charming roster of characters previous players have grown to like.
