Battlestations: Midway Review

If the gaming gurus at Milton Bradley have taught us anything, it's that battleships are made to be sunk. It's a lesson that the creative minds at Eidos must be familiar with, because the publisher's latest game, Battlestations: Midway, makes sinking the steel behemoths of the sea every bit as...

Great mix of strategy and action; Lots of different ships; planes; and subs to command; Intuitive controls make it easy to switch between functions

The single-player campaign is too short

PC Review - 'Battlestations: Midway'

It's World War II from the skies or from the seas when we press full steam ahead into Battlestations: Midway.

Truly massive battles; Huge library of ships; planes & subs; Well integrated strategic & tactical gameplay elements

Short single player campaign; long tutorial; Sparse environments; Not much detail in the models

Battlestations: Midway Review

Playing Battlestations: Midway is fairly reminiscent of Battlefield 1942 , except from a third-person perspective, without the on-foot elements and with a more strategic and slow-paced style of game.

Disappointed

I have to admit that this may be a "good" game for some but I was looking for a strategy game where I could play admiral and direct fleet movements, etc. In this game you have to drive boats, shoot at airplanes, fly airplanes and shoot at airplanes, and that is as far as I got before deleting it...

Hours of Emtertainment

Once I started playing, after becoming familiar with the many controls, I found myself spending many hours in front of the monitor. The spirit of competition keeps you striving to "beat the enemy" . Liked it so much that I ordered "Battlestations Pacific" and can't wait to start playing.

Battlestations: Midway

Depending on what you want from a digital skirmish, Battlestations: Midway is either the best game ever made, or the dullest, most convoluted blaster in the history of virtual warfare.
