Massively Entertaining | Battlefield 4 Review

The main contender against the arguably most popular franchise Call of Duty has to be Battlefield. Even though these two games are often compared closely with one another, they really aren't that similar. They may be both first-person shooters, but that's only the genre.

Great Multiplayer; Massive Destruction

Bad Campaign; Technical Issues

Multiplayer Mayhem

Other publications may have rushed out their review on this giant title, but here at GD we have learned that certain games need a little more time to settle in or to show their enduring problems. Like a patient sniper we wait and watched Battlefield 4 emerge from the undergrowth.

Improved graphics; Playing with strangers; Multiplayer gameplay additions

Crashes; Playing with friends; Generic single player campaign

Battlefield 4 PS4 Review: Outstanding visuals and next-gen polish for a more rewarding Battlefield

For the finer points not discussed in this upgrade review, check out our full review of Battlefield 4 on PS3 , which discusses the common ground between the PS3 and PS4 versions as well as the issues we found when playing on PS3.

Single-player experience of titanic proportions; Visual mastery unmatched in shooters; Multiplayer at its best

Simple AI for team and enemies

There's something evergreen about Battlefield's brand of online warfare. The combination of breakneck infantry fighting and explosive vehicular warfare breeds conflicts that are exciting, tense, and, perhaps most importantly, diverse.

Obliteration mode sets an exciting new pace; Great maps set the stage beautifully; Tons of ways to make an impact; Destruction is empowering

Campaign doesn't embrace series strengths

Battlefield 4 Review (PS3)

It'll take dozens of hours to master the weapons and combat scenarios that might pop up throughout Battlefield 4 's giant-sized maps. EA and DICE have a proven track record of ongoing support and have actually delivered their multiplayer component in great shape on launch day.

Levolution is fun to play with; Campaign is short and satisfying; Countless hours of "Battlefield Moments

PS3 struggles with weight; 64-player multiplayer; etc; Modes not returning; expensive game after DLC

Battlefield 4

- The Battlefield series has come a long way from a niche FPS shooter on the PC platform, to a bonified system seller that can stand toe-to-toe with any other FPS on the market. Not looking to rest on its laurels, EA and developer D.I.C.E.

Battlefield 4 (PS3) - Review

Shooters offers gamers a chance to shoot everything in sight, fill the environment with bullet holes, and kill player after player without fear of the consequences that these actions have when performed in real life.

Battlefield 4 PS3 Review

Battlefield 4 Image © EA Is "Battlefield 4" the best multiplayer shooter of the PS3 generation? It's a bold statement to make but I wouldn't argue with anyone who wanted to make it.

Battlefield 4 is the newest release from Electronic Arts and DICE which promised big changes for the series. The Battlefield series offers current-gen gamers one last adventure with the newest release, but sadly, it completely fails to deliver the game experience needed for hardcore fans of the...

Battlefield 4

While Battlefield 4 isn't perfect, it's a much better, more refined experience in comparison to BF3. DICE hasn't gotten the balance between campaign and multiplayer just right yet, but they've definitely shown a lot more flexibility and progress with this release.
