The newest instalment of the Battlefield franchise heads back to a time period that needs more attention, The First World War. When the game was first announced I was worried that the developers would gloss over the horrors of the war but I am glad to say that this is not the case.

We have been stuck in the "modern" era of war with shooters for close to a decade now. Ever since Call of Duty (CoD) made the jump to current weapons and conflicts with Modern Warfare, nearly every major war-based shooter has followed suit.

Small issues aside, Battlefield 1 marks an impressive, risk-taking reinvention for the series. That the multiplayer is as good and distinctive as it is is less surprising than a campaign that takes a difficult setting and navigates it with skill and invention.

Hype is a trend in this day and age that seems impossible to derail, some games live up to the pre-determined hype, while most fall flat on their faces in which the best they can hope to gain from that hype derail, is to be the butt of all jokes on endless internet memes.

War Stories feels just a little short-lived

The timing of the next part of DICE's incredibly popular multiplayer war series could not have been better. The first seeds of what would become Battlefield 1 were sown back in 2008, we were told visiting the Stockholm offices.

Those little ticks belie the fact this is a very familiar game given a fetching new outfit. This is the same old Battlefield in well-pressed slacks, a little more stately and a lot more composed than it's been in some time, with better manners to boot.

This is a very bad game. First of all, when I start, I am instantly surrounded by level 30 guys and my team with level 1 people and I die 20 TIMES in one game! I can never get kills because of the very long distance combat and I am really unsatisfied with this game.

Great Graphics, World war 1 setting, Awesome Action. May give you war flashbacks if you were there.
