Batman Arkham City Review, DX11 Explored

Batman: Arkham Asylum was one of the top hits of 2009. It told the story of the Joker's surprise escape and takeover of the notorious Gotham facility for the criminally insane and Batman's struggle to subdue the Clown Prince of Crime and stop his plans to create an army of monsters.

Great sequel to a great game; It's Batman; New gadgets; streamlined combat; and more challenging riddles provide better experience; PhysX; 3D Vision both used to good effect

DX11 broken at launch; blah when fixed; No way to remap keys without quitting and restarting game; Ludicrous activation process

Batman: Arkham City Review

To say that Batman: Arkham City is the best licensed game of all time is like saying Oreos are the best chocolate-and-cream sandwich cookies; sure, it's praise, but it's meaningless praise given the competition.

Engaging story with fantastic voice acting; big world with tons of quests and puzzles; smooth-flowing combat and traversal; a Batcave's worth of fun gadgets

Serious DX11 performance issues; can't change settings in-game; three layers of DRM is overkill; no PhysX on AMD GPUs

Next up to Bat

Sometimes, these articles just write themselves. The main thing that sets Batman: Arkham City apart from Batman: Arkham Asylum is something you already know, just from having read this sentence. Whereas the first game was set in an asylum, this game is set in a city.

You are Batman; Plenty to do; Looks great

Games for Windows Live; Not hugely innovative

Batman: Arkham City Review

This game really doesn't require any kind of introduction. Anyone who hasn't played Rocksteady's big break out GOTY Contender of 2009 Batman: Arkham Asylum by now needs very much to climb out from under the rock in which they live, and once they pick up Asylum they need to immediately play Arkham...

There is endless fun to be had with Arkham City ; Combat never bores, you'll never feel like you're done exploring the city, and every technical aspect of the game flows together so well; Playing as Catwoman is a nice change of pace and adds even more incentive to progress tirelessly.

Main story seems hurried toward the end; seemingly trivial but it does take a bit away from the core experience

Batman: Arkham City Review

It used to be that superhero games were incapable of being great, as if there were some unwritten law handed down from the gods of gaming to developers, plaguing the genre for decades.

Deep; fluid combat; Great homage to source material; Top-notch voice acting; Engrossing narrative; Improved stealth sequences

Minor animation hiccups; Easy boss battles

Batman: Arkham City Review

An expansive and brilliantly crafted playground to test Batman's abilities as a detective, brute, and predator, Batman: Arkham City is highly addictive, and a work of digital art.

Exploring Arkham City and everything it holds; Heavy Batman atmosphere; Fantastic opening and exceptional ending

Some characters are underdeveloped; Narrative is strong; but a bit disjointed; Some boss battles are weak

Batman: Arkham City Harley Quinn's Revenge – Review (PS3, 360, PC)

First of all, I have to say that in reviewing this piece of DLC there may be a few spoilers as Harley Quinn's Revenge starts shortly after a the ending of Batman: Arkham City. Although quite short in gameplay time, two hours to be precise, Harley Quinn's Revenge follows the same sumptuous narrative...

Review: Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition is the definitive caped crusader experience

If you've already played through the entirety of the game and its DLC, chances are the gamepad functionality won't sway you to re-purchase Arkham City . However, for Nintendo purists who have up until now only had a Wii, or perhaps anyone living under a rock and didn't get to experience Arkham City...

Batman: Arkham City (PC) Review

As a FPS gamer I didn't think I would get much out of Batman: Arkham City, but boy was I wrong! As I had not played the previous ...

Graphics; voice acting; storyline and addictive gameplay will make you glued to your computer for hours

Having to be logged into your Windows Live account in order to save your progression in the game

Batman: Arkham City

The game is not without flaws, but they are so completely outshone by the rest of the game that the few missteps become inconsequential. This fact becomes apparent as players move through the rather lengthy single-player campaign; any niggling complaints that we had at the beginning of the game...
