B&O Play's palm-sized Beoplay P2 is its most affordable speaker yet

For those of us wanting some serious Scandinavian design in our lives, but perhaps without the budget for the likes of Bang & Olufsen's seriously cool there's its B&O Play range. This is the Danish audio company's slightly more budget-friendly, lifestyle brand with a focus on portable audio.

B&O Play Beoplay P2

For the size, the B&O Play Beoplay P2 is an excellent-sounding portable Bluetooth speaker that can get quite loud and deliver a solid sense of bass depth. For the price, you might expect a stereo driver array, or simply larger drivers that deliver more bass depth and volume.

Touch-sensitive controls; Shake-based feature can be used to skip tracks or control other functions; Useful app allows you to customize EQ and controls

Mono audio only; Expensive for the size

B&O Beoplay P2 review

The B&O Beoplay P2 is an excellent compromise on size and sound quality. In fact, for this size we would argue that you can't get much better.

Excellent design; Good bass for the size; Ultra-portable; Easy-to-use app

It's lacking highs and mids; A pouch or case would be nice

Bang & Olufsen Beoplay P2

The Beoplay P2 is a new type of offering from Bang & Olufsen . With the expectation of the Beoplay A1, the Danish company does not specialise in small speakers. In fact, the P2 is the cheapest Bluetooth speaker in the Beoplay range, but does that mean consumers are getting an inferior device?

Small dimensions with solid body; Good sound range; Nifty controls

Still a tad pricey; Battery life erratic at full volume

Impressive little speaker!

I have a Logitech Boom, JBL Extreme, and this P2. Each have their strengths and weaknesses. The JBL extreme is not in the same category as its much larger and heavier. The P2 compared to the Boom is pretty amazing.

B&O BeoPlay P2: Australian Review

Bang & Olufsen's younger, funkier BeoPlay brand has really been kicking some goals recently; I haven't met a BeoPlay speaker that I haven't loved. The same is true even of this latest P2, a pint-sized USB-C-powered travel companion that makes perfect sense for anyone with a new Android phone to take...

Nice sound for a small form factor.

This is a small speaker that packs a surprising punch. We are using it with our TV and it provides fantastic sound over the standard TV speakers. It was easy to pair once I figured out that the logo on the back is a button. A long press put it into pairing mode and it was automatically detected.

Bang & Olufsen Beoplay P2

This little dude is great. With the right expectations I can can't imagine a review less than 5 stars. This is intended to be a "personal speaker". If you're close to it the sound is rich and full for a speaker that can fit virtually anywhere your phone can.

B&O Play by Bang & Olufsen Beoplay P2

I've been meaning to review B&O Play Beoplay P2 for a while, but only recently got my hands on a review sample. (Believe it or not, the full name is "B&O Play by Bang & Olufsen Beoplay P2.") At $169 (£149, AU$249), it's currently the company's least expensive portable Bluetooth speaker.

The Beoplay P2 is a stylish, travel friendly, splash-resistant Bluetooth speaker that delivers impressive sound for its small size; Battery life is decent (10 hours), and there's a built-in microphone for voice calling and voice activation

Pricey; lack of physical buttons for playback control may not appeal to some users
