Big sound, small profile!

The reviews don't lie. If you're looking for a pair of desktop speakers that provide superb sound qualities in a small package, don't look any further. These speakers provide clear and warm sound reproduction that rivals, if not beat, many speakers that have significantly larger drivers.

These speakers suffer from the modern problem of weak little speakers trying to sound like big speakers. I bought these for my younger sister thinking they'd have that nice full well rounded room filling volume that all of my other old bookshelf/floor standing speakers have.

Audioengine A2+

This is the perfect speaker size for my desktop pc. These are by far the best pc speakers I ever owned. With the speakers turned all the way up, and the PC sound turned all the way down to level 2, there still pretty loud. If you hook these up by USB, sound and clarity is amazing.
Pros:
  • Size

  • Dual audio inputs
Cons:
  • Power / volume knob not on the front
  • Somewhat expensive

Audioengine A2 Speakers

If you think deploying a subwoofer is a prerequisite to obtaining big-time bass, you haven't heard Audioengine's A5 speakers. And if you're convinced you need huge cabinets for thumping bass, you haven't heard the company's new diminutive A2 system.
Pros:
  • Amazing sound in a tiny form-factor.
Cons:
  • Lacks the front-mounted volume control and USB port charger of the A5

Hi guys, Now I am not a speaker guy by any means and mostly have crappy stock speakers around here (although I just upgraded my surround speakers for my NAD T747 to some Harmon Kardon 30BQ's) and this will be my first attempt at reviewing speakers.
Pros:
  • Incredibly neutral sound with excellent clarity and imaging
Cons:
  • None at all from what I've heard thus far

Review: Audioengine's A2 speakers

Big on sound, small on extras Audioengine's A5 speakers received one of our highest ratings ever (9.5 out of 10) when we had the pleasure of reviewing them last year, so we were understandably excited when Audioengine sent us a pair of their new A2 speakers to check out.
Pros:
  • Great sound
  • small size
  • available in both black and white
Cons:
  • No extras, such as remote, iPod docks, etc
  • make these a bit pricey given the competitive speaker market

Audioengine has recently released the "little brother" of its popular A5 speakers - the A2 Desktop Speakers - and we have today a pair of the Audioengine A2W (White) speakers. They are marketed as the "little brother" because they are smaller, less expensive and deliver less power.
Pros:
  • Accurate and clear sound
  • high-quality construction and design
  • all needed accessories included
Cons:
  • Relatively limited power
  • directional sound
