Audio-Technica ATH-M50X review

The Audio-Technica ATH-M50X are DJ headphones reborn to better suit a mass audience. They're big and chunky, sure, but they also offer some of the best sound you'll find for around $150 (£113, AU$199).

Lively; engaging sound; Relatively affordable; Good for EDM

Not neutral-sounding; No wireless option; Proprietary audio cable

Audio Technica ATH-M50x review

A great effort from Audio Technica: these are a good pair of portable over-ears If you're looking for a portable pair of over-ears and you like your sound a little warm, for the money, the Audio Technica ATH-M50x are well worth checking out.

Decent detail; Good separation; Good sense of life

Sounds a little thick; Could do with greater clarity and dynamic punch

Audio-Technica M50x Review

Audio-Technica's M50 headphones are a standard feature in many studios, but you asked for more, and AT answered that call by adding an x to M. Andy Jones does the can-can…

Initial impressions. Not monitors. Not hi-fi. Not good.

I've only listened to this for a few hours. The headphones are not fully burned in. They sound wrong. The sound is synthetic and there's a lot of detail missing. This is compared to the Soundmagic E50 and HP151 as well as the Bose Soundlink 2 headphones.

Good sound quality, probably over spec for my purpose of on stage sound monitoring. Quite comfortable to wear. Will see if they stand the test of time.

Too fun for precise studio work, but perfect for enjoying music

Intro This review will mostly focus on M50x's qualities from a studio professional point of view – what to expect when using these headphones as a monitoring device for mixing and do they really cut it for mastering work.

Great Headphones

Overall would recommend to anyone looking for a good pair of headphones that is good for the quality and price.

These headphones have a very clear and crisp sound; Good for a person who likes a balanced sound; Good for gaming and music

A little on the tight side; but can get used to them

Built Solid, Great Sound

The construction of the headphones is of very high quality, they are tough as. The sound is fantastic, you will be annoyed you have not been listening to music from these sooner. Great value for money for a product which will last ages.

"Great Pair of Headphones"

The built is amazing and quite sturdy. Good balance of sound from the bass to the mids, also very reliable to have on you for general music listening to audio mixing.
