Asus Zenfone 2 review: Most things handled well, despite heavy skin; but a disappointing camera

Asus launched as many as three variants of the Zenfone2 across storage capacities and price points. The inaugural Zenfone series in India which was launched last year, was a success and Asus managed to sell more phones in the Zenfone series than in its previous avataars.

Asus ZenFone 2 Review

Most people recognize Asus from its laptops and a smattering of Android tablets, but outside the United States, it also sells a lot of phones – 10 million to date, in fact. Its ZenFone smartphone lineup promises solid performance and a well-rounded feature set at an affordable price, and the ZenFone...

Outstanding value; Powerful hardware; Pleasing 1080p screen; Decent battery life

Pretty large; even for a phone with a 5.5-inch display; Bland design; Average camera; Software bloat

Asus ZenFone 2 (Unlocked)

I can't believe the Asus ZenFone 2 costs $299. In terms of sheer power per dollar, it's unmatched. The ZenFone 2 has everything and the kitchen sink: 64GB of storage plus a memory card slot, two SIM slots, enough RAM to flip between several large games at once, and a surprisingly good camera.

Amazingly fast and powerful for the price; Good camera; Dual SIMs; Lots of memory

Big and heavy; Dim screen; Heavy Android skin; Too much bloatware

When the ZenFone 2 was first announced in CES 2015 , there was a major detail that many probably missed: 4GB of RAM. Now that it's actually out in the world, the fuss over it still isn't great, but it sure is something that many can appreciate. But what about the rest of the phone?

Great value for good performance; Decent camera; Quick Charging

Average battery life; Non-removable battery; Power button is awkwardly positioned

Asus' latest assault on the Android phone comes via the ZenFone 2, the successor to the ZenFone 4, 5 and 6. The previous generation devices had 4-, 5- and 6-inch screens, hence the names. The ZenFone 2 has two different screen sizes, with 5-inch and 5.5-inch variants available.

The Asus Zenfone 2 Laser is a very good option with a price tag of ₹9,999. The handset is powerful, can shoot really good images and battery backup is also pretty impressive. On the negative side the handset is heavy / bulky and media sound is low.

Great phone

I am using this product from 1.3 year. I bought this at 13k price. Really great phone with removable battery, duel SIM card, and SD card option. These days many phones come with hibrid sim slot. Front camera works great. I have taken great photos in this phone.

The rate at which the industry is pumping out smartphones these days is staggering. Even more impressive is the rate at which truly outstanding phones are shipping, even from names that weren't significant just a few years ago.

Great display; Enjoyable ZenUI overlay; Great design and build quality; Solid overall performance; Fantastic $299 price point unlocked

Battery life; Middling graphics performance; Lackluster camera
