If you're looking for an 802.11ac router with great range and throughput, Asus' RT- AC68U Dual-band Wireless-AC1900 Gigabit Router ($199.99) topped our tests on both measures. It's also got solid small business features and a highly polished interface.
Topped our speed and range tests in 802.11ac mode; Advanced features suited for small business; Clean, polished user management interface
Not much benefit over previous models for networks with only 802.11n wireless clients; No automatic notification of new firmware; Non-removable stand
ADSL2+ sync; WiFi range; User Interface; Build; Parental Controls
I really cant fault anything; the product is great
Asus are well-known for pushing out the speed boundaries to even greater lengths when we consider their motherboards and graphics cards so it is only fair that they take this drive to push further and deliver us one of the world's fastest wireless routers.
Superior wireless signal strength and throughput speed; Dual-WAN capability with fail over protection and load balancing; Mobile applications for access to USB storage and router setup; More than capable of delivering the power needed for the next couple of years; Highly reputable brand when it...
Wireless adaptors capable of operating at the same high speeds are very limited at the moment; Unsecured wireless networks out of the box are not wise – basic security at least is far better; Not necessarily the first name you would think of when it comes to networking
Early in 2013 we tested an ASUS wireless router that supported 802.11AC standard draft. However, just before the end of the year ASUS came up with a new router, which is even faster and more robust. Let us get you familiar with ASUS RT-AC68U!
Excellent speeds in the wireless network segment; Support of OpenVPN; High operation speeds with an external USB disc; Support of double WAN port; Great wired speeds; Ability to create up to three guest networks in each wireless range; Support of IPv6
The web-interface is not completely translated; High price
Asus has proven to be a tough competitor in the Wi-Fi router space. So tough that Netgear accused the company of pulling the wool over the FCC's eyes...
The rapid adoption of the 802.11ac standard amongst high-end mobile devices is creating a need for high-performance routers to service that extra potential. After all, what's the point of having an AC-capable device, such as a flagship smartphone, tablet or ultrabook, if the router can only supply...
Excellent AC performance; Strong USB throughput; Feature-packed; Easy setup; Integrated modem
Expensive
Until recently, the fastest 802.11ac routers were labeled 'AC1750' or something along those lines. That refers to the combined theoretical bandwidth of the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz bands. On 2.4 GHz that is 450 Mbps and on 5 GHz that is 1.3 Gbps.
Brilliant router works great out of the box but as we have 2 xbox ones in the household I installed dd-wrt firmware and this router is just amazing, wifi reaches every corner of the house at super fast speeds at 5ghz. I knew from reviews what i was buying, every home should have one.
Top Notch Router
nothing
Replaced an AirPort extreme with this router, the speeds are much better. I had a few dead zones in my house, especially on the 5G network, but this router took care of that.Relatively easy to set up.
Fast; Fast Connection Speed; Reliable connection; Secure Connection
