Asus RT-AC68U review

Much like its RT-AC66U precursor, Asus's RT-AC68U Dual Band Wireless AC1900 Gigabit Router resides at the high end of the consumer router category. That said, the high price equates to remarkable performance, compliments of some upgraded internal components.

Asus RT-AC68U Dual-band Wireless-AC1900 Gigabit Router

If you're looking for an 802.11ac router with great range and throughput, Asus' RT- AC68U Dual-band Wireless-AC1900 Gigabit Router ($199.99) topped our tests on both measures. It's also got solid small business features and a highly polished interface.

Topped our speed and range tests in 802.11ac mode; Advanced features suited for small business; Clean, polished user management interface

Not much benefit over previous models for networks with only 802.11n wireless clients; No automatic notification of new firmware; Non-removable stand

Asus DSL-AC68U Router

This is the router many people have been waiting for. The DSL-AC68U is essentially the RT-AC68U but with an integrated VDSL2 fibre optic modem. Unlike the majority of routers, this means the DSL-AC68U is a single box replacement for your ISP-supplied router and one that comes with a barnstorming...

Strong short and long range wireless performance; Integrated VDSL2 modem; Intuitive setup; All-in-one upgrade on an ISP supplied router

Edged out by dedicated AC1900 routers; UI a little dated; Rivals cheaper if the integrated modem isn't key; Only one USB port

Asus DSL-AC68U review

The Asus DSL-AC68U may be expensive, but it is flexible. It has a built in ADSL and VDSL modem, and one of its LAN ports can serve either as a Gigabit Ethernet or a WAN port. This means you'll still be able to use the router if you switch from ADSL to a cable or fibre service, or vice versa; the...

WORST ROUTER EVER!`

This $250 JOKE I bought thinking my internet would work better made me wish I had rolled a big doobie with hundreds and smoked it...at least I would have had SOME pleasure. POS router drops the internet 30 times a day. says your connected, but your not....Has a 'just kidding' mode.

It's black. It's a good paperweight you can use the antenna to poke people You can joke about how you blew $250 on a POS that drops the internet more than Net Neutrality. Your kids will be safe; because their internet WILL NOT WORK

It SUCKS as a router ASUS SUCKS Asus support sucks The router does NOT rout NO internet will be broadcast from this POS

Review: Asus' 802.11ac modem-router brings its A-game

Asus has made a name for itself in the router game, typically providing high-performance units with plenty of flexibility. The DSL-AC68U continues the tradition. It's rated at 1,900Mbps -- that is, a single 802.11AC stream capable of 1,300Mbps, combined with a 2.4GHz stream rated up to 600Mbps.

Asus continues its strong showing with its high performing, extensively optioned router; Its VDSL capability could mean future-proofing for some

The price will sting; and for those with USB plans; you only get one port

ASUS DSL-AC68U

The rapid adoption of the 802.11ac standard amongst high-end mobile devices is creating a need for high-performance routers to service that extra potential. After all, what's the point of having an AC-capable device, such as a flagship smartphone, tablet or ultrabook, if the router can only supply...

Excellent AC performance; Strong USB throughput; Feature-packed; Easy setup; Integrated modem

Great service from BT - not a great product

Permanent VDSL disconnects with any settings. Asus are firing out firmware updates like there's no tomorrow, but still extremely unstable. Returned and refunded by BT - top class service. Replaced with the RT-AC87U (also from BT Shop), working with an Openreach modem, all AOK.

The ASUS DSL-AC68U may not be one of the fastest routers out there on the market but it has its advantages in being well built as well as providing various functionalities all in one package.

Powerful networking; Its two products in one package
