Asura's Wrath might seem like a game firmly engaged in the throes of an identity crisis. It balances delicately on the line that separates interactive movie from game in an attempt to buck the negative connotations generally associated with the former characterization and its love affair with...

Worthwhile story

Uninspired use of quick time events; Repetitive and lackluster combat system

Asura's Wrath

Asura's Wrath is a pointless, bizarre mockery of a game that will leave you scratching your head from the very first cutscene to the final fight. The game kicks off with a rather confusing cutscene which makes an unconvincing attempt at explaining why some characters from Japanese mythology have...

DBZ fans and dyspeptic adolescent boys should presumably enjoy it

Short; Nothing for a gamer to really do; other than watch long; boring; convoluted and uninterestingly nonsensical cutscenes; Sorry; mythology and sci-fi just don't mix; unless you happen to be the original; Star Wars; trilogy; There is no way you could possibly care about or relate to the...

Asura's Wrath

Asura's Wrath is definitely going to split opinion. Its story-driven approach, heavily reliance on Quick Time Events (QTEs) and limited game/play-time is not going to appeal to everyone. But it's a game that everyone should try at least once.

Quick Time Events (QTE) are one of the banes of gaming and rose in popularity during the PlayStation 1 into 2 eras. This is essentially the art of pressing a button once prompted during a cut scene.

When do I Actually Get to Play this "Game"?

Indie game developer Phil Fish caused a major Internet uproar recently when he told a colleague that modern Japanese games "just suck" while on a panel at the Game Developer's Conference.

It's only six hours long; so my suffering was short-lived

So many options..; how about the fact that I spent a huge chunk of that six hours doing nothing but watching a cruddy subpar anime masquerading as a video game

Even for a sub 10 hour game, more like 6 hours... I found it hard to finish this game. Not difficutly, but it just wasnt that much fun. I had friends that LOVED this and beat it 5 times. I just don't think an entire game with quick time events is all that fun.

Asura's Wrath

A textbook example of an audiovisual tour de force, Asura's Wrath, is a stunning action-packed interactive anime, full of spectacular visuals, incredible spectacle and the kind of imaginative jaw-dropping madness that makes you glad to be a gamer.

Great graphics and soundtrack, with a story told in anime-style by chapter, but with simplistic (and confuse) gameplay, consisting of Quick Time Events and simple figthing sequences mixed into the story.

Asura's Wrath Review

More of an interactive action anime movie than a video game, Asura's Wrath has to be seen to be believed considering you don't get to play much throughout the game. Following the story of demi-god Asura, as he punches his way through every situation imaginable in his maddened pursuit of vengeance,...
