Asura's Wrath

Asura's Wrath would be almost nothing without graphics and sound, so it's fortunate that it's nearly a first-rate production. Everything is based on Japanese mythology, but there's a barely-concealed cyberpunk aesthetic behind much of the divine stuff; just wait until you see the Brahmastra.

Review: Asura's Wrath

Asura's Wrath was a game I'd little followed since its announcement as generally I hold little interest in games so intensely ‘Japanese', so when a review copy fell into my lap I ventured into the experience largely blind.

Visual style and sheer delightful absurdity; Bug-free and polished to a shine

Lack of actual gameplay; Priced too highly for the experience it provides

Asura's Wrath – Rage against the machine

If history has taught us anything, it's that you should absolutely not mess with demigods, especially if they have anger issues. This definitely includes not betraying them, killing their wives and /or kidnapping their daughters.

Asura's Wrath Review

Graphic novels and videogames seem to go hand in hand these days, with fans of either medium generally being connoisseurs of the other. Many action/adventure games and RPGs have ventured into comic-style presentations, but few have really nailed anime. Until now.

Asura`s Wrath

One thing I've always loved is when you get so proficient at an action game that you are practically unstoppable. When the controls work well you feel invincible, almost god-like, as you cut a swath of destruction through the enemies you face.

Asura's Wrath

Once the dominion of exotic and much lusted after interactive animations crafted by the likes of Don Bluth, the quick time event is now frowned upon and the zeitgeist has decreed that they are a garnish that should be used sparingly.

Time to Get Angry with Asura's Wrath

There is a board game called Betrayal at House on the Hill. In the game, three to six players move around a haunted house and discover rooms within the house. Symbols on the house tiles determine what kind of action is taken when the tile is laid down.

Asura's Wrath

Asura's Wrath is a pointless, bizarre mockery of a game that will leave you scratching your head from the very first cutscene to the final fight. The game kicks off with a rather confusing cutscene which makes an unconvincing attempt at explaining why some characters from Japanese mythology have...

DBZ fans and dyspeptic adolescent boys should presumably enjoy it

Short; Nothing for a gamer to really do; other than watch long; boring; convoluted and uninterestingly nonsensical cutscenes; Sorry; mythology and sci-fi just don't mix; unless you happen to be the original; Star Wars; trilogy; There is no way you could possibly care about or relate to the...

better than I expected

Despite this game being designed with every no-no gaming reviewers condemn games over, its not that bad. I was execting to hate Asura's Wrath, but I actually liked it. I'm a sucker for a good story and pretty graphics and it has both.

Price; Has an inspired story; Most of the game is gorgeous; Uses familiar and talented voice actors

QTEs galore; There are on-rails shooting bits ala primitive CD FMV games; The actiony beat-em-up bits vs normal enemies are annoying and repetitive; The action boss battles can be aggrivating; The TRUE ending is basically a commercial to buy the DLC (real ending sold seperately!
