Assetto Corsa is a title for which I've been waiting a very long time. After being disappointed by rather lacklustre Project Cars , I simply couldn't wait to put my hands on a true racing simulator.

The latest contender in the racing simulation genre, Assetto Corsa , manages to deliver consistent and sound racing controls, but everything around it is less than stellar. I compare it to the both excellent and average Gran Turismo 5 as Assetto Corsa plays well but is surrounded by antiquated menus...

I'm usually reluctant to compare works of art to each other, but in this case it's almost necessary. Between titles like F1, Forza, and GT there's little need to pursue Assetto. This one is strictly for hardcore fanatics with loads of patience and time on their hands.

Positives + Gorgeous graphics; + Excellent car handling

Negatives - Ill-thought-out penalty system; - AI drivers constantly push against the precision driving required of you, often ruining entire races

This game is terrible it was compared to project cars as a simulator wrong not even close . Project cars is the definition of a simulator this game is trash.

Considering the high praise Assetto Corsa deservedly receives for its impressively well realised racing simulator experience, there's no doubt jealously may have erupted in console players who have endured a much longer wait for all of the three Porsche DLC car packs to arrive.

Despite its amazing driving simulation, just doesn't get the racing right. Out on track alone it feels amazing; there's no denying the remarkable realism Kunos Simulazioni has captured here.

Assetto Corsa 's biggest problem might be players' expectations. On the PC, KUNOS Simulazioni's game has developed a reputation as the platform's best driving sim – a detailed, authentic racer that makes Forza and Gran Turismo look like Need for Speed .

Not quite grand.

It may be not as complete and visually stunning as other racing simulations on consoles, but it is probably the most realistic racing sim ever. Learning curve is quite long (at least 5 hours), but it is rewarding to drive after all the beginner mistakes you made.
