As Gamestyle mentioned in the preview for Assassin's Creed 3, pre-orders for this game are at a high. On the 25th of October, just under a week before release, Ubisoft confirmed that AC3 is the most pre-ordered game in their history.

A highly hyped game often involves a risk: to succeed or to fail miserably. If the industry simplified a great number of known franchises to please the casual gamer, the number of games developed for a public thirsty for more complex stories still strong.
