Arms review

Toby Berger springs into action in Nintendo's wacky new Switch exclusive, Arms.

The game's zany universe is very Nintendo; Graphics, gameplay, and sound design are all top notch; Characters are well-designed and varied; Multiplayer is fantastic

A bit light on content, especially for solo players; Mini-games lose their lustre rather quickly

ARMS Review

Nintendo's power has always been in their wide assortment of IP. Mario, Zelda, and Metroid were always the headliners, and it seemed like they were resting on their laurels a bit before some new stuff started to trickle out.

Arms review

Strip away its motion controls and Arms is a fun but forgettable affair, albeit one that you can carry wherever you please thanks to the Switch’s portable wizardry. With a pair of Joy-Cons clasped in your hands, it’s a different game entirely, becoming one of the most immersive fighters we’ve ever played and a great big sugar rush of cartoonish combat. There’s just no topping the experience of watching your opponent flail away in person as you jab, swipe and smash your way to victory. Even it does lack a bit in the way of polish, Arms still has more than enough charm to rank as one of our favourite games for Nintendo’s new console. Buy the Arms game here from Argos (UK) | Amazon (USA)

Joy-Con controls; Simple game mechanics; Manic online play;

Sparse fighter roster; No story mode;

Punching Up

Concept: Punch, jump, dash, and dodge your way to victory in this zany 3D fighting game Graphics: Colorful almost to the point of excess, Arms is a bright visual treat Sound: I never felt attached to the music, but each tune is fitting for the action on display Playability: Though motion controls...

ARMS Review – Nintendo Springs Another Hit On Us

ARMS is a game that could have only come from Nintendo today. It's bright, colorful, fun for all ages and turns the boxing genre on its head with splendid results, not unlike what Splatoon accomplished for the shooter genre.

Satisfying mechanics; Tight controls; Variety of modes; Very polished

Grand Prix mode a little underwhelming; Team based tethered matches suck

While Nintendo may still reign as top tier in platforming games, there's another genre that the company has always had success in as well: fighting games. I don't always mean your standard 1v1 side view fighter either. Look at Punch-Out! for an example of that.
