It was no surprise that the Nintendo Switch got first-party titles from popular franchises such as Mario and Zelda , but few would have predicted Arms, a new fighting game revealed at the Switch launch . Arms pits fighters with extendable arms (hence the name) against each other in an arena.

ARMS - Nintendo Switch Review

‘Arms' brings back the fun of the Nintendo Wii, but it's most fun if you don't take it too seriously.

Surprising depth; nuance and strategy; Motion controls are a lot of fun; Good variety of modes keeps things interesting; Tons of unlockable Arms will keep completionists busy

Controls aren't precise enough for fast fights; AI takes advantage of control scheme issues; No remappable buttons

ARMS (for Nintendo Switch)

I had a blast playing ARMS, and recommend it to any Switch owner looking for a game to play with friends. Its approach to fighting games is as offbeat as Splatoons ' approach is to shooters, and that gives it a very unique charm that will appeal to many players outside of the fighting game...

Deceptively deep, deliberate mechanics; Strong variety of fighters, ARMS, and modes

Limited customization options for online play; Game formats and combinations become repetitive if you don't fall in love with the action

Arms Review: Reach For The Stars

Nintendo's newest IP lands on the Switch. Is it an instant classic? Our review.

Colorful cast of memorable characters; Intriguing new premise; Motion controls are a dream

Can feel repetitious when played for long stretches

Punching Up

Concept: Punch, jump, dash, and dodge your way to victory in this zany 3D fighting game Graphics: Colorful almost to the point of excess, Arms is a bright visual treat Sound: I never felt attached to the music, but each tune is fitting for the action on display Playability: Though motion controls...

ARMS

Arms is another polished Nintendo title and a welcome addition to the Switch library. The characters that have been created and the world that they live in is terrific it's just a shame we don't get to explore it more.

ARMS Review – Nintendo Springs Another Hit On Us

ARMS is a game that could have only come from Nintendo today. It's bright, colorful, fun for all ages and turns the boxing genre on its head with splendid results, not unlike what Splatoon accomplished for the shooter genre.

Satisfying mechanics; Tight controls; Variety of modes; Very polished

Grand Prix mode a little underwhelming; Team based tethered matches suck

Arms

Let's first take a look at what Nintendo's big new IP is all about. Arms is a fighting game where in 3D arenas you'll go up against a single opponent, and you'll beat up each other by using combination attacks, grabs, charged strikes and well, that's pretty much it, at least at first glance.

ARMS Review

There was a long, elaborate paragraph that originally served as the intro for this ARMS review. It went into poetic detail about fighting games. "The drama of dragon punches!" it cried. "The

Excellent multiplayer fun; Everyone can play it; Surprising amount of depth

Not much content; Mini-games aren't great
