Apple iPod touch (fourth generation, late 2010) review

The iPod touch is wildly popular for good reason. It’s an extremely versatile device: media player, pocket gaming machine, productivity tool, Internet communication device and, with this latest update, pocket camcorder, still camera, handheld recorder and FaceTime video phone.

Review: iPod Touch 4th Gen (4G) & Comparison

This is the device iPod Touch users have been waiting for. Hailed as "the iPhone without the phone" the new iPod Touch 4th Gen has HD video recording capabilities, Wi-Fi, a superior display, and all the features of an iPhone 4 without a contract. This is a must-have item for any gadget fanatic.

Retina Display, 960-by-640-pixel resolution at 326 pixels per inch, Two cameras! Video recording, HD (720p) up to 30 frames per second with audio; still photos (960 x 720) with back camera.

Mirrored rear fingerprints easily, Easy to cover rear camera lens with your finger, Pricing structure seems strange: 8GB is $229, next step up is 32GB for $299; 64GB is $399

Apple iPod touch 4th Gen.

The new iPod touch is a worthy successor to the third gen. model. It is lighter and more responsive than its predecessor. It's highly recommended if you want a simple, intuitive touch based PMP, even if it comes with subpar headphones.

Small & lightweight; Extremely responsive; Razor sharp screen; Intuitive interface; Dual cameras including front facing camera; Great gaming; Excellent battery life; Good WiFi performance thanks to 802.11n; Wifi + mic + Skype app = "poor mans

Glossy screen reflects lots of ambient light; Not the same IPS panel as the new iPhone; Screen & body are a fingerprint magnet; Requires iTunes to load media on to it; Low resolution cameras; Storage is not upgradeable; Not compatible with 3rd gen cases; 802.11n is only 2.4Ghz; not 5Ghz support,

The most beautiful MP3 player we've seen, and a peerless all-rounder for music, media and gaming.

This is simply the best-looking iPod, indeed the best-looking MP3 player we've ever laid eyes on; The Touch 4G is even thinner than its predecessors – any bulges have been eradicated to leave a sheer, smooth device, The new Retina Display that it shares with the iPhone 4 is just as stunning with its...

The camera on the new iPod touch is still a touch disappointing; Stills top out at a maximum of 960×720, so you won't be replacing your cam with these just yet; And the fixed focus doesn't help matters, The maximum capacity is a mere 64GB, so this is not for audiophiles.

Apple iPod Touch 2010 – Lots of new features

When it comes to music players, iPod is probably the first thing that strikes in to your mind which proves that this gadget is the world's most famous music player. There are other manufacturers making music players but they haven't come anywhere close to iPod's class.

Apple iPod Touch 4G

The iPod Touch is an amazingly versatile little gadget, and the improved performance of this model enhances its gaming credentials, while the FaceTime technology will appeal to adults and youngsters alike.

Apple iPod Touch (4G)

Apple's iPod Touch has had a radical makeover, with the fourth-generation Touch coming in the wake of the widely praised iPhone 4 and offering some of the same features. It is Apple's best iPod to date and can be considered a triple threat: a gaming console, multimedia player and Internet device.

Rich display; faster processor; HD video recording; front and back cameras

Poor camera resolution; no camera flash; no in-line microphone on included ear buds

Apple iPod touch 4G (32 GB)

At last: the iPod touch can now take photos, and videos too!  While they were at it, Apple even included their Facetime video-calling system. Hardware: well, it's still an iPod ...

Lots of features; Facetime available without 3G; Decent processor does a good job; Reasonable quality audio

TN screen; not IPS like on the iPhone 4; Low resolution on the screen; Headphones need replacing

The king of the iPods gets some nice new features and a smaller form factor, solidifying its place as the portable media player to beat.

Impressive 2010 feature additions; Slimmer than ever; Seamless interface; Improved display; processor

So-so still photos; Body prone to smudges; scratches
