Apple Watch Series 4 40mm Aluminium Sport Band

According to Apple, the Series 4 represents "a fundamental redesign and re-engineering of Apple Watch." As a result, watch out for a lot of very cool changes, from the curved corners to the all-new and larger display.

A MUCH bigger display

The Series 4 provides lots to talk about but it's the display that is capturing the most attention. The narrow borders deliver a viewing area that’s over 30 per cent larger! The curved corners match the radius of the case, allowing for images and the touch surface to almost extend to the very edge of the screen.

Bigger display means new interface

Because of the bigger display, the design of the interface has been remodelled with the new Infograph watch face now capable of handling eight complications, allowing you to do more and see more at a glance.

Never skip a beat

The optical heart sensor has always been a feature of the Apple Watch, but in the Series 4 it can now detect if your heart rate falls below a specified threshold for a period of 10 minutes, and activates a low-heart-rate notification as a result.

More than just a processor

The Series 4 is a complete SiP a System in Package. This means the entire system is fabricated onto a single component with some incredible capabilities crammed into that small device.

It sounds better

The Apple Watch Series 4 boasts improvements in virtually every sense, and that includes a speaker that's 50 % louder for enhanced audio quality for things like Siri and the Walkie-Talkie function. Meanwhile, the microphone is now on the other side of the watch to minimise echo when making phone calls.

Earlier Apple Watches were impressive wearables, but the new Series 4 is the strongest argument yet for wearing a smartwatch. And that's not just because of bigger, edge-to-edge screen or its improved fitness tracking either.

Apple Watch Series 4 first look: Apple's most exciting new product

Out of the all the products Apple unveiled during its September event – which include the and – it was the Apple Watch Series 4 that really stood out. This is because, while the bevy of iPhones received minor updates, Apple's wearable was completely redesigned.

Apple Watch 4 review

The updated Series 4 Apple Watch is a fantastic wearable. The bigger screen makes a huge difference, as do the niceties such as the haptic feedback when you turn the crown. WatchOS 5 is by far the best of its type, and its easier and speedier than even on the Series 4. You might not use all its features, but you'll find a subset indispensable. We can't yet test some of the health features, and would advise anyone tempted by the ECG feature to wait until it's available if that's your main reason for buying. Although there's an LTE version, bear in mind you'll still need a compatible iPhone to use an Apple Watch. And now that the Series 3 has had a price drop, it makes the Series 4 look pricey. But if you want the best, this is it.

Apple Watch Series 4 Aluminum (40mm, Silver) - Excellent review

Review: Apple Watch Series 4 is the full realization of what a wearable can and should do

Apple takes unjustified heat for iterating on a product year after year. By not tossing out the whole platform and design, however, the company has created a game-changer with the Apple Watch Series 4.

Apple Watch Series 4 review: The smartwatch king is bigger and better than ever

The Apple Watch has been updated for the fourth time in as many years, bringing with it a number of new features , and for those looking to upgrade from the first-generation model , there's a tweaked design which features a bigger screen and other cool new tech .

Bigger and more immersive screen looks superb; Same strap size despite new design; Will last you through a day

Electrocardiogram feature not available at launch; Some WatchOS 5 nitpicks; No battery improvement

Apple Watch Series 4 Aluminum (40mm, Silver) - Excellent review

The new Apple Watch Series 4 is available today and this new wearable from Apple may have been the best new product launched at the event and couple of weeks ago in California. The Apple Watch Series 4 has been "redesigned and reengineered" with a focus on the features that people use the most:...

Expanded viewable area, Light weight, Solid battery life, Gorgeous display with stunning animations for watch faces

No advanced sleep tracking, No always-on display option, No support for third party watch faces, Swipe to switch watch faces is annoying

Apple Watch Series 4

If you already have an Apple Watch, should you upgrade That depends. If you own a Series 3, I wouldn't rush to trade it in unless you use it to make calls all the time or see the upcoming ECG feature as a must-have feature.

Large screen; Good call quality; ECG capability; Fall detection; WatchOS 5 brings numerous improvements; Stylish

Expensive; Battery life remains unchanged; No built-in sleep tracking

Apple Watch Series 4

The fourth iteration of the Apple Watch still looks like a tiny iPhone on your wrist, but for many, it was the most exciting device announced at Apple's event earlier this month.

Bigger; better screen; All old Watch bands fit on the Series 4; Good battery life; Faster performance; Fall detection has the potential to be lifesaving; ECG features give users more control to monitor their health on a daily basis; Accurate auto workout detection and ending feature; WebKit support...

ECG app isn't available yet; WatchOS 5 drops support for Series 0 devices; New complications are only compatible with new watch faces; Still no support for third-party watch faces; Still no native sleep tracking; Siri has trouble completing Shortcuts; More expensive than any other Apple Watch; and...

Apple Watch Series 4 Review: This is the one

Has there been a learning experience for Apple quite like the Apple Watch Back when the original model launched in 2015, there was – not unfairly – a sense that Apple itself wasn't quite sure what exactly it should do.

Mesmerizing new display; Fast and smooth performance; Health features could be game-changers; Battery life hasn't suffered

Siri still falls short; Expensive
