Apple Watch Series 2 review: it doesn't suck

Apple's latest version of its Watch, the Series 2, was announced alongside the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus , and launched at the same time as well. While it may have been overshadowed by the phones, the new model solves a number of problems that were presented by the original model.

Excellent watch, terrific battery life, and an elegant useful product.

I did not want to review the Apple watch until I had used mine for a while, so here goes. First and foremost, this is probably about as nice of an electronic watch as you could possibly get. It is very nice-looking and well thought out.

Apple Watch 2 review: The ONLY smartwatch to consider

So, do you need the new Apple Watch? Probably not. If you get one will it transform how you interact with your tech and make you less reliant on whipping your phone out every 45 seconds? Absolutely.

It's now fully waterproof; GPS means phone-free runs; Battery life given a serious boost

Slightly fatter; Some straps are overpriced; We still want a round one

Apple Watch Series 2: Australian Review

My Apple Watch has taught me a lot of things. It's taught me that I can hit about 40km/h flat out on my cheap fixie bike before I run out of legs. It's taught me that my exercising heart rate is really kinda high and I should probably see a doctor.

Apple Watch Series 2 review: A faster, brighter fitness machine

The Apple Watch is a polarizing product. Sometimes it feels like a novelty, a gadget lifted straight from Dick Tracy or Inspector Gadget. Other times it seems essential, a heart rate-monitoring device that could save your life .

Wahoo ELEMNT MINI In-Depth Review

Today Wahoo announced their newest product in the ELEMNT bike computer lineup, the MINI. This $99 (including a speed sensor) unit is aimed more at the bike commuter and/or recreational cyclist than the hardcore one.

The Apple Watch Series 2 Review: Building Towards Maturity

In many industries, but especially in technology, there's a common wisdom about waiting for the second or third iteration of a product before purchasing it. This is based on the idea that the first version of a product will often be the most flawed or compromised - a product still trying to find its...

The Apple Watch Series 2 arrives nearly 17 months after the original, and has a few features that its predecessor probably should have shipped with. The first and foremost of these is a snappy and responsive operating system - which is now available on the original Apple Watch too - followed by...

Battery life; Swim-proof; Fast; accurate GPS; watchOS 3 ecosystem; Watch Unlock

Lacks altimeter; Workouts app lacks features; Can't export workout data; UI feels stale

The original Apple Watch wasn't amazing, but it did what it set out to do. You could answer phone calls on your watch, see notifications from your phone, and even track your heart rate. And with the most recent software upgrade, the watch has speed and interface improvements that refine it further.

WatchOS 3 is amazing

Doesn't feel worth an upgrade over the Series 1

Apple Watch 2

The Apple Watch 2 is an improvement on the original Watch in a number of ways, and all of them useful. The extended battery life, the GPS abilities and the water-resistance now make this a compelling smartwatch, though the follow up Series 3 is the device that really convinced us it has a purpose.

Water-resistant; GPS onboard; Two day battery life

Expensive; Lack of useful apps; Fitness could be more comprehensive
