Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) Smart Speaker With Clock - Sandstone B07NQK2XR2 review

Amazon has created another smart speaker that brings practical smarts to the kitchen counter or the bedside table. It's not as adventurous a device as other Echo products, but it's one of the most wallet-friendly and practical.

The Echo Dot with Clock brings all the best elements of 2018's third-gen Dot and adds a smart quality-of-life upgrade in the form of an LED clock display.

The $60 price tag edges the new Dot out of the super cheap range shared by the standard Dot and Google Nest Mini; Plus, the LED display can't adjust color or color temperature, which makes it a little annoying in a dark room.

Amazon Echo Dot with Clock initial review: It's a Dot. With a Clock.

The Echo Dot adds a little extra to what is already a hugely successful device - it's a neat idea but isn't enough to upgrade from an earlier Dot, of course. If you are adding a new Dot to your home or getting one for the first time then it's definitely worth it if you'd find the clock useful.

Simple but effective idea; Bright clock; Snooze function

The display doesn't really do an awful lot; No visual indicator of multiple alarms

I purchased two of these units to complement my Echo Plus, I only had too turn them on and they connected straight to my Echo plus without me having to do anything. I used one of them to work with my audio speaker, just had to plug the 3.5mm audio cable in both units and now I have Alexa's voice...

Had this for a few months now and originally I was quite happy with it BUT this last few weeks has seen a big reduction in its ability to deliver basic services eg I quite like to check the news headlines on radio four so all I had to say was - Alexa, play radio four and it would play - but not any...

Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Generation) Review

Amazon's third-generation Echo Dot ($49) looks good and sounds great. With vastly improved audio, it's now a distinctly better smart speaker than the Google Home Mini, and can replace the larger $99 Echo for less picky folks. That makes it our Editor's Choice for entry-level smart speakers. If you already own an old Echo Dot and use it to power a bigger, better speaker, there's no need to upgrade. But if you use your Echo Dot as a primary speaker, you'll want the new one.A Cuddlier Dot The Echo Dot is chubbier and cuddlier than the previous model, although it's about the same size. Instead of just hard plastic, now the speaker has a fabric wrap in one of three shades of gray. Choose wisely, because unlike with the full-sized Echo, you can't change the wrapping after you buy the speaker. Like previous Echo Dots, the speaker has a colored light ring around the edge and four buttons on top: volume buttons, a mic mute, and an action button. I like the Echo Dot's volume buttons better ...

The new Amazon Echo Dot delivers dramatically improved sound, making it an even better buy for an entry-level Alexa speaker.

Much better sound than previous model; Still the best inexpensive Alexa speaker; 3.5mm jack for more powerful speakers; Alexa remains the best voice ecosystem for smart home control

Alexa isn't up to Google Assistant's level at answering broad information queries

Add Alexa around the house with this cheap speaker – Amazon...

Amazon Echo Dot Review (3rd Generation) – The Amazon Echo Dot is the small gateway to having Alexa and a smart speaker at a minimal cost. Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) Review

Nowadays, there is no shortage of Amazon Echo devices that come with a number of features and sometimes at a cost. One of the most recent devices is the Echo Dot (3rd Gen) which is one of the cheapest Echo devices and a vast improvement over the previous version.

Cheaper than comparable smart speakers (i.e Google Home Mini; Nice fabric design; Has Bluetooth and AUX out; Great sound; Easy to setup

Comes with a much larger power adapter than the previous version; Alexa has some trouble hearing

GOOD, BUT NOT GREAT

I bought the Amazon Echo Dot 3 a few weeks ago and use it in our Sun Lounge paired with a Sonos Play 5 speaker. It works pretty well, although it has lost wi-fi connection once already. My Alexa View has had no such problem in 2 years. Nevertheless it works well and is fairly unobtrusive.
