Test Alpha Protocol

Alpha Protocol – PC Review

I will never be Bond. James Bond. That's a certain fact and, as lame as it might sound, it saddens me to tears: no knocking at Halle Berry's door, no super-cars, no gadgets, no six packs to impress the ladies… nothing!

Alpha Protocol Review

Let's say someone's just given you a jack-in-the-box. He then motions for you to crank the handle, so you give it a whirl. Round and round it goes until-boom-out comes a platter with the world's most delicious cake on it. Awesome!

Fast-paced, fascinating conversations; tons of customization and cool abilities

Glitchy, inconsistent stealth and combat; uneven enemy AI; annoying minigames

Alpha Protocol – Staff Review

Choice is a popular gaming buzzword, typically code for "you can save the village or burn it down." Rare is the game that gets a handle on the important part of choice, that being consequences; your actions mattering in the long run.

Alpha Protocol

I know this may be hard to stomach for some gamers, but delays can be a very good thing. Sure, you'll have to wait a bit longer to get your hands on the title, but it gives the developers more time to fine tune and tweak their product; ensuring a better product.

Alpha Protocol: The Espionage RPG

Part Bond, part Bourne and seasoned with a little Bauer, Obsidian's latest is a stealth-action RPG littered reams of customisation that, despite a real lack of polish, rewards with persistence and effort.

Leaves a lot to be desired.

This game has great potential, unfortunately there are just too many thing wrong with it for it to be consider a great game. The whole idea of Alpha Protocol is good but it just doesn't deliver. The gameplay is unexciting and can sometimes be quite boring.

Challenging

Boring; No Multiplayer Mode; No Online Play

Playing Alpha Protocol is like putting together a 5,000-piece jigsaw puzzle with 500 pieces missing: You get a sense of what the big picture should have been, but the final product is still maddeningly incomplete.

Your choices have lasting impact on the story and gameplay; Lots of ways to approach missions and develop your character

Flaky; glitchy cover mechanics; Bland visuals marred by bad animations; Terrible AI affects both the shooting and the stealth; The story lacks soul and character

Great concept, average execution

I had been following this game through developement and purchased when it was released. I think it is evident that the game was not ready for release but was pushed out the door because otherwise it may have just been scrapped.

Innovative conversation system; Interesting combination of modern setting with role playing mechanics; Firearm modification was good; Character customization was great, and sometimes hilarious

I think where this game really falls apart is the combat; Its too clunky to be played as a third person shooter, but lacked the tactical abilities of Mass Effect or Fallout to be played as a tactical RPG; The abilities really aren't balanced and many aren't viable; The graphics were marginal.

Alpha Protocol (PC)

Obsidian Entertainment are wizards when it comes to creating sequels and spin-offs for other developers' with games like Fallout New Vegas, adding their own story and gameplay tweaks to an existing franchise.

Constantly changing story guided by the player's choices; solid voice work; customizable RPG elements

Boring gameplay; bland environments; poor AI
