Test : Alien Isolation

Review: Alien: Isolation (Microsoft Xbox One)
I am a big fan of the Alien franchise so you can imagine my disappointment when release after release I am underwhelmed with all the game adaptions that have come. Alien 3 for the NES and Sega Genesis were run and gun action games that had zero tie-ins with the movie.

Imperfect organism.
It's the first step towards the Alien game you've always wanted. But it's a tiny, uncertain step. Given the poor showing of the last few major games set in the Alien universe, however, it's a welcome one.
Pros:
- Alien cat-and-mouse encounters can be tense and frightening
- Nails the right retro-futuristic atmosphere
- Great use of sound and motion-tracking
Cons:
- Loaded with uninspired filler, Trial and error + distant save points = frustration, Some mechanics are inconsistent
- others are illogical

I have been waiting for a game such as Alien: Isolation for quite a while now. With the releases of Aliens vs. Predator in 2010, and Aliens: Colonial Marines, Isolation had a lot to make up for, and it certainly does that.

Alien: Isolation review
I'm very confident that Alien: Isolation is the game that fans of the franchise have been waiting a long time for. I really enjoyed some of the game's best survival horror elements, particularly certain encounters with the xenomorph, scripted or not.
Pros:
- + Nails the look and sound of the film
- + Superb moments of suspense and fear
- + Two or three standout moments diehards will love
Cons:
- - Newcomers might not last the long length
- - Pacing hits a downer half-way through
- - Non-alien moments feel tacked on

Alien: Isolation
Unlike most of my friends, I've never been a big fan of the horror genre, both movies and video games. There are certainly exceptions (well, mostly the
Pros:
- + Homage to the Alien series - both audio and visual
- + The Alien's ability to hunt you
- + Genuinely unnerving
- + Tons of ways to attempt to outsmart the Alien
Cons:
- - Inconsistent voice acting
- - Awkward pacing at times
- - Annoying item creation

Wait for used copy
Meh', ok at best. Definitly not worth full price, I wish I'd waiting for a used copy. The story line is entertaining, effects are interesting, if it was a movie I'd say go see it. However, as a game, it lacks.

Scary
Scariest game I've played in years! Absolutely like the original movie and just as tense! Prepare to die a lot though as the alien is just as crafty and hard to kill as the movies!

Alien: Isolation Review
It's not often that I criticize a game for being too long, but " Alien: Isolation " feels like it outstays its welcome. There's too much backtracking, too much filler, and the game would have been tighter if it were half the length, and none of the tension would have been lost.
