In Version 3 of the real-time strategy classic, you try to take control of the New World playing as one of eight "civilizations," each of which possesses unique "units" (equipment and personnel, for example). Game play is easy to pick up but hard to master.

Age Of Empires III has worker placement, area control, and set collection, making it a solid Euro, but also has (limited) warfare which gives it a little something extra. Granted that I've only ever played 4 worker placement games, but Age Of Empires is probably my favorite.

Pretty well a flawless game. Fortunately for me, I didn't waste my time on the previous installments of the Age of Empire series, nor any RTS since Warcraft 2, so when people tell you that AoE3 adds nothing new to the genre, they are both lying (Home Cities, for example) and suffering myopia from...

The graphics are colorful and varied, animations uniformly excellent, sound effects wonderful -- especially the female German villagers, and the cannons firing in quick succession; Multiplayer is really where this game shines

Single-player's only really value is to prepare you for multiplayer, and it doesn't do a very good job at that; Anyone who takes this game semi-seriously will make mincemeat out of you if your only experience is against the computer

To paraphrase The Who, meet the New World, same as the Old World. Of course, it doesn't look the same. Three years on from the stunning Age of Mythology, Ensemble have once again raised the bar for strategy game visuals. Age of Empires III is beautiful to look at.

Age of Empires is one of those games you plan on playing for a few minutes but end up wondering where all the time has gone when you see its 3am in the morning. It's been a long time since an addictive game like this has come along.

i played a little in beta and have just got it been playing a few hours and the gameplay ( i mean normal age of empires gameplay not this farmville stuff) is fun its free too download dont buy this version if u really like the game you have the option to buy upgrade.

I'm a long time fan of the Age of Empires Series. How many hours I spent sneaking into the University computer labs after dark with friends to quickly install and play a networked round of the original, I can't really remember, but those were good old days.
