APC Smart-UPS 1500
Businesses that can't afford to lose IT operations need to protect their critical systems from power problems. APC's Smart-UPS 1500 can look after multiple servers and associated networking equipment in a small business environment, and at just over $1000 for a near kilowatt UPS it looks good value.

APC Smart-UPS 1500 LCD
Tipping the scales at 24kg, APC's Smart-UPS 1500 LCD is no lightweight, and for good reason: it has a longer runtime than any other 1,500VA model we've seen. In fact, it's the only UPS we've tested that even comes close to delivering its claimed battery runtimes.

Good product, quieter than they say
I saw several comments about the noise of the fan, both here and at other resellers. The fan on this thing sounds like it isn't even on! It is quiet as a mouse, and is even quieter than the new fan I bought to replace the fan in my old 1400 unit (which was quieter than the original in the 1400).
Pros:
- Has great battery life and comes with a USB connection (yay!)
- The older models require a serial port connection and I just recently purchased a motherboard with no serial ports
- This thing runs pretty quiet
- I also like the digital readout instead of a couple rows of indecipherable LEDs.
Cons:
- Unfortunately, I all but forgot about the outlet placement on these newer models
- All the outlets are right next to each other in two rows
- They are also lined up all in the same direction.

Very well made and works excellently
I use this for two QNAP servers plus two printers. It is solid, very well made and really does the job. I control it via a Qnap so it shuts down the Qnap after a user defined period of time of no external power. I really like the screen that shows the power draw.

Card just drops off the network...
Bought this about 10 months ago, last couple of months the card management card just drops off the network, I have to perform a physical reset to get it back on line. Have to do this almost every three weeks. Sad, so sad :-(
