For the most part this UPS works very well. The built in intelligent switching is a must for the type of commercial power we receive. However, I really wish that this model came with a USB connection instead of serial.

Bought this at a local big box store because I needed it immediately. Doesn't sport the LCD screen that the newer cheaper plastic UPS units have but I never really look at the UPS anyway even if it has a pretty LCD screen.

Rugged, solid UPS; Case made of steel, not plastic like the newer ones from other manufacturers; Definitely old school with serial interface but it says right on the box that it's a serial interface; All outlets are battery and surge protected.

A great UPS. I was more interested in the rare ability to send out an email prior and/or execute a .bat (batch file) to an orderly shutdown. The other beautiful aspect of the APC SMART series is the ability to add battery modules to increase run time. Finally, support that is second to none!
