The K240S is an odd beast. It's not hi-fi by any means. The bass is big, boomy, and not particularly well-extended. The highs are somewhat recessed and don't convey a whole lot of detail. The sound is akin to a fat black woman shaking her booty on the dance floor. Not a lot of refinement...

There are plenty of hand-held dynamic vocal microphones available in the world, and sometimes it seems as though microphone technology has advanced as far as it can. But every once in a while an innovator will make an improvement that advances the technology to a new level.

I've used the AKG K240S headphones for a few years now and I remain mystified at all the rave reviews here on Amazon. My experience may be different than some reviews, so I'll explain my approach. I do sound art, composition/production, and I listen for fun.

I originally bought a set of 4 K240df headsets for my studio 10 years ago and through all of the abuse that goes on in a rental studio they are all still working. The thin cable is a lot more durable than it looks.

I use these headphones for monitoring and mastering field recordings at home. They are comfortable. They don't exert excessive pressure on the head and the headband is designed to keep them seated right.

great great thats all I can say. now I realize that if you spend more then you get more. I have been buying cheap headphones but they do not compare to these at all. buy it the only thing I have to say is that the cord is too short for me.

Clear Sound; Easy To Use; Versatile

The AKG K240 Studio Monitor headphones are a pair that every musician, recording hobbyist and lover of sound and music owes themelves to try. They produce a soundfield much broader, accurate and detailed than many headphones sold at this price, and are incredibly durable and comfortable to wear.

The first thing I liked/noticed was the appearance of these headphones, they look like retro studio headphones. They sound really clear and you can hear sounds that you can't in other headphones. Also seem kind of too flexible but after a few months of using they haven't came close to breaking.

10 ans.C is the headphone I use most, because it is less aggressive than Sony7506 (closed) which I use for "maximun insulation." For monitoring I use a
