The game almost seemed a bit quirky at first, but after playing the game for myself I now fully understand what it is about. It is something that is better experienced than explained, but the easiest explanation is this: getting to face one one-on-one with friends and family in a variety of games...
I think that this game is great for all ages. Once you get to an age, where you can easily understand the way to play this game, it is amazing and super fun. I do not recommend the cow game though for young children. Thanks!
Bought for 5 year old love it! We would like to see a part 2 in the future.
Do you have zero friends? Is physical interaction with other human beings a rarity? Then 1-2-Switch is not for you. Nintendo's party game collection, like Nintendoland and Wii Sports before it, is best enjoyed with friends, drinks and pizza, ideally in copious amounts.
Fantastic showcase for all Switch features; Good variety of games; Genuinely great fun at parties
Multiplayer only; Some games difficult to grasp; Should have been bundled with console
There are a lot of fun ideas, and the general concept of a portable party game works well, but there are just too few mini-games and too little reason to keep playing them.
A unique concept that could only work with the Switch; Instantly accessible for even non-gamers and some of the uses of the Joy-Con are inspired
Too few games, some of which aren't much fun; The reliance on sound is a flawed concept, and there's absolutely nothing to do for the single-player
Take the plunge if you are a relatively well off San Francisco based copywriter with a large group of friends who gather often, but don't expect an experience anywhere close to Wii Sports.
+ Some technically impressive mini-games; + Lots of fun in the right setting; + Unique use of audio over visuals; + HD rumble is THAT good; + Joy-Cons are wonderfully flexible
- No longevity; - Some mini-games are terrible; - Waggle-fest returns in places; - No save file; - Embarrassingly overpriced
Is mini-game collection 1-2-Switch a party favour or a party foul? Find out in our review of the Switch's other big launch game.
Say what you want about Nintendo – there's no other games hardware manufacturer doing more to bring social and multiplayer gaming back into the living room, and far from the often maddening experience of playing against screaming malcontents online.
1-2-Switch is at its least effective when you have to rearrange the hardware in order to play a specific game. For example, in Hold the Baby, you need to attach the controllers to the Switch, a process that takes a good 30 seconds. Likewise, in Telephone, you have to remove the Joy-Con strap.
