iPad mini

Certainly the most desirable 7-inch tablet on the market, the iPad mini's £269 starting price is considerably higher than the competition but for that outlay you get a device that, although not specs superior, is a far more enticing option than much of what is already on the market.

Stunning brushed metal design; Strong battery life; Simply; intuitive UI

Low-res screen; More expensive than competition; No boxed headphones or dock adaptor

Apple iPad Mini in-depth review -

Check out our full comparison with Apple's iPad (fourth generation)! As much as we love Apple's iPad , the original tablet that sparked a slew of imitators, it isn't a very traveller-friendly device. At 652g, the iPad is a heavy little beast.

Compact and light; Great battery life; Bright, colourful screen; Excellent App Store

Premium price; Rival screens are sharper; No expandable storage

Apple iPad Mini review

The iPad Mini is a decent tablet that is almost affordable by Apple's standards, making it a good choice for anyone already comitted to the Apple ecosystem.

Decent build quality; good battery life; iOS 6

Screen isn't as good as other Apple devices; A5 processor doesn't offer top end performance

Apple iPad mini Wi-Fi review

I've heard many complaints about the iPad mini. I've heard people moan about the dated processor and the low resolution, 4:3 screen. I've even heard a few complain about the lack of GPS in the Wi-Fi version.

Smaller; lighter & more portable; Beautifully designed and built; Huge selection of apps; Seamless integration with Apple devices

Ageing processor; Relatively low resolution screen

Apple iPad mini

The iPad mini is the new iPad to lust after. It's a lot more manageable. It a lot more kid-friendly, it's a lot more game-friendly. It is a lot more "you" friendly. It's a lovely size, it's a lovely experience, and one that we can easily see cannibalising iPad 4 and iPad 2 sales in the future.

More portable; still a big screen; light; great for gaming; less chunky

Screen resolution; 4G won't work on Vodafone or O2; old processor

Apple iPad mini review Review

The iPad mini is a 7.9-inch version of Apple's popular iPad, and offers a polished tablet experience in a smaller package. It's too expensive however, and its display resolution doesn't measure up to competing tablets, or other iOS devices.

Ultra-thin and light; Handles ebooks and iPad apps well; Camera; storage and optional 4G make for a full iPad experience

Over £100 more expensive than rivals; Low-resolution display; A5 processor isn't particularly quick

Apple iPad Mini review

Small and light enough to take everywhere but big and clever enough to be considered a full-blooded tablet, the iPad Mini provides a near-perfect balance – for a price

Like the iPad; but easier to handle; Beautifully built; Battery life is impressive

No Retina Display means a lack of detail; Expensive compared to the Nexus 7

Apple iPad Mini

Surprise, surprise. It was really only a matter of time before Apple launched its own pocket-sized version of the iPad: the iPad Mini. After all, the company couldn't just stand by and let Google, Amazon and the rest have all the fun.

Beautiful build quality; Fantastic feel; Great screen; Great with video; Entertaining with music; Easy to use

Pricey; No expandable memory; Cable and cover accessories all add up
