Don't waste your money on this item at 5 foot away it does not pick up good enough to understand what is being said.

Recorder has low volume, a lot of static and hard to hear what you have recorded. I am disappointed in the Sony ICD-BX Recorder. Staples is one of my favorite places to shop. My review is not about Staples my review is about Sony, Sony has always had great products, this is not one of them.

This has very good sound quality. Easy to use. It is just what I needed to record for our Historians group, work and to take notes. The sound was great even after doing a playback/record to my phone so I could email it to friends.
