[REVIEW-SONY DSC RX100 compact camera]

This 20 megapixel camera with a 28–100mm (equiv), Zeiss-branded lens has a sensor area 2.6 times larger than its competitors. The 75mm LCD is a brilliant high resolution (1.2m dot) viewing screen. Function controls are small but well laid out. The menu system is clear and intuitive to use.

Sony RX100 Review: Single-Handedly Makes Point-and-Shoots Relevant Again

When the Sony RX100 was announced, its one-inch sensor and f/1.8 aperture seemed too good to be true. Near-DSLR power packed into a body the size of a compact point-and-shoot camera? What's the catch? Turns out, this camera is a significant achievement for Sony.

Sony Cyber-Shot RX100 Compact Camera – 51

A large-sensor pocket-size 20-megapixel camera that can shoot low-noise, high-quality images through its fast f/1.8 Zeiss zoom lens, and features DSLR-type controls that are highly customizable - sound too good to be true?

Compact; Good image quality; Fast aperture at wide-angle; Good balance of features

Fixed lens; Slow aperture at telephoto; Some time and effort to master menu and features

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100

Experts overwhelmingly agree: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 is the best pocket-sized camera you can buy. Its secret is that it has the biggest sensor of any pocket camera. While other compact cams emptily promise fine photo quality like a bulky digital SLR (single-lens reflex) camera, experts and...

Very good photo quality; Quick-shooting; Full manual control; Fits easily into a jacket or pants pocket

Very few buttons to handle lots of tasks; Flimsy flash stalk and USB/card doors

My Go To Camera

Best camera i have owned. I have had the likes of Canon G10, Pentax SLR and many others. This camera is the go to for me. Amazing picture quality and everything you will ever need to capture a still or moving object. Amazing features. Great value.

It was about 50 years ago my father had a Zeiss Ikon 'contaflex' SLR camera, in which he took family photos that were on the shelves of my grandparents' home for many years. My first Sony-Zeiss purchase was a DSC-T300, #2009# which was a little tricky to operate, but worked around, getting some fine...

A breakthrough camera

Pros: the new stacked imager yields exceptional photos. Coupled with Sony's intelligent scene management, truly striking images are obtained without having to 'optimize' them after transfer to the laptop. The super-high-frame-rate video is spectacular but alas I have not used it much.

DSLR quality that fits in your pocket

After researching cameras for over 6 months, Sony released the RX100 and it was a perfect fit for me. I am traveling to Argentina to do mission work for over a year and I wanted DSLR quality pictures and full HD 1080p video that could fit in my pocket. I have exactly what I want in this camera.

extremely portable; good build; tons of features
