The only downside to this camera, which for some isn't a downside at all, is that it offers far more options than I would ever use. However, I bought it for its compact size and large sensor, and it has delivered many, many terrific images for me.

More complicated than I need

Pros: the new stacked imager yields exceptional photos. Coupled with Sony's intelligent scene management, truly striking images are obtained without having to 'optimize' them after transfer to the laptop. The super-high-frame-rate video is spectacular but alas I have not used it much.

Looking back, the Sony RX100 shines in nearly every area, particularly image quality, speed and the ease of use with the front control ring and simple back controls. The compact size didn't allow for a viewfinder, but a fourth pixel in the LCD screen to assist with taking shots in bright sunlight...

Great camera for people who would like a lot more customisation with controls on a compact camera without using the big DSLR. Love the flexibility of the flash so as to use the flash in a more creative way, than just usual spot highlight on the subject.

Not Very Solid; Wears Easily

The Sony RX100 is a very impressive camera that is capable of producing some great-looking shots with lots of detail and a good colour spread. If you're looking for a decent mid-entry compact digital camera, the Sony RX100 offers enough features to make it worth your while.

As compact as the Sony RX100 is, it still feels very sturdy, not that we'd expect any less from Sony; The design is smooth, weighty and pleasing enough to want to be seen carrying one around; There's a bit of a retro, yet modern charm about it.

There are few real complaints to be had here; but it's a shame the LCD viewfinder isn't touchscreen; and the RX100 could be quicker to fix its autofocus on subjects - something bound to irk the more practiced photographers.

Sony DSC RX-100 has a large sensor that aids in providing good image quality. The larger sensor simply means that, as compared to small sensor cameras, it will be exposed to more light during any exposure with the same settings (ISO, shutter speed, and F-number).
