decent but leaves a lot to be desired

Sonic fans say this is the best Sonic game in years. I'd agree if Sonic Generations doesn't feel as rough and unpolished as it is.

Sonic Generations is meant to commemorate Sonic's 20th anniversary so it's got a ton of references to most retail releases including obscure stuff like Knuckles Chaotix; Also has a ton of music and artwork from previous Sonics.

Game is short and padded with a lot of annoying and repetitive challenges; controls are flaky; 2d Sonic has turning issues; On a 2d plane; Yes; It takes him a few tenths of a second to turn around.

Sonic Generations

Mixing the best elements from old and new Sonic games together into a seamless experience works out amazingly well. It's clear the Sonic team went above and beyond this time around to spit shine this game into a thing of beauty.

Blends old and new Sonic elements very well; Dazzling stage designs; Lots of unlockables; High-speed action

Switching between Sonics can be confusing

I am quite disappointed with this game, it is fun, but they cutted almost everything, there is no video, and the graphics is not the best thing in the world, but the game is still playable.

Sonic Generations

Sonic Generations manages to work with the good and ignore the bad, if fans allow it this could be the reset that the Sonic franchise needed. You'll find the purity of the original games mixed in with the best parts of the Adventures, Advance and Colours games.

Let's just pray on bended knees that it doesn't take another set of poor incarnations before we see Sonic appear again with such splendour and delight. The foundations have certainly been laid for another epic return. Long live Sonic the Hedgehog!

Sonic Generations Review

Sonic and his furry posse haven't had the best run in recent years, but the ailing hedgehog finally returns in good form for his latest outing. Sifting out most of the cruddy elements from recent games that soured longtime fans and pushed some folks away for good, the development team hits a real...

Games blog Sonic Generations – review

Poor old Sonic. The jet-heeled blue hedgehog suffered an apparently permanent loss of his mojo overnight, going from one of the games industry's most iconic characters to an anachronism.

The Drowning Music Still Haunts My Soul

I have a lot of respect for Sega. They have absolutely no shame in displaying every one of Sonic's missteps, regardless of how poorly received they may have been. Sonic Generations is no exception, featuring loads of fanfare for lovers of every major title in the franchise.

Chemical Plant Zone is still awesome

"That looks like a homing shot! Careful; Sonic! That looks like a homing shot! Careful; Sonic! That looks like a homing shot! Careful; Sonic!

Sonic Generations – The Verdict

For a video-game character so obsessed with travelling blindly forwards, Sonic the Hedgehog sure spends a lot of time looking over his shoulder. Between the upcoming re-release of Sonic CD , the ongoing Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and the sidescrolling elements of modern titles like Sonic Colours , you'd...

Review: Sonic Generations (X360)

Sonic the Hedgehog has always been a love-hate relationship to me, but I've always given Sonic games a chance, despite the bad rap the blue guy has been getting. With Sonic at his 20th Anniversary, it's probably a good time to sit back and reflect on past mistakes.
