Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor (PS4)

If a superb game based on the Lord of the Rings world has been the object of your singularly focused fixation, nay, obsession, then get ready to call Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor ‘my preciousss.

Immersive world; Deep Nemesis system; Looks and sounds terrific; Fun to play

None worth noting

The Legend, the Lore, the Artistry, the Deftness, the World and the Characters, these are some of the things which J.R.R Tolkien brought to life in his Lord of the Rings books, and which were transferred ever so well into film format.

Brilliant Combat l Compelling Narrative l Unbelievable voice acting l Super Graphics l Pretty Much Everything

AI can appear a bit dim l Parkour is not as fluid as it could be

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is a monster of a game. It is a huge, sprawling thing that demands your time and effort. It wants your hours and your upkeep. At times, it feels like The Silmarillion in game form: an endless list of names, 90 percent of whom you either kill yourself or watch die.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Review – Brutally Engrossing and Spectacular

When Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor released in 2014 it caught a lot of people by surprise. It took ideas from other established franchises, such as a combat system similar to the Arkham series and climbing and stealth mechanics not unlike Assassins Creed, but also introduced something wholly...

Compelling story with intriguing characters; Nearly every mechanic has been improved; Combat still feels fast and fluid; Almost endless supply of unscripted moments; Bigger; more beautiful world

Some plotlines end abruptly; Captain/warchief intros interrupt action

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

We really enjoyed Shadow of Mordor when it launched back in 2014. It wasn't a perfect action-adventure, but the Nemesis system brought dynamics to the table that we'd never experienced before, and really haven't experienced since.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

As an enthusiast of the open-world genre, I was pretty excited to get my hands on Middle-earth: Shadow of War . The first instalment in the Lord of the Rings spinoff was a surprising success back in 2014, with critics and fans heaping praise upon its outstanding combat mechanics and distinctive...
