Unit suddenly lost power, will not restart, (NO Power) ALL our back-up GONE!! Seagate should be ashamed for producing such a poor quality product. Now to RMA it back, we have to pay out of pocket, were done with Seagates Expansion Desktop Drives.

I have owned this for just over 9 months now and am very happy with my purchase. I will definitely recommend this drive.
great stability and plenty of space to backup all of our data
none so far
I shoot thousands of photographs of birds, wildlife and landscapes. The images fill my computer ram and hard drive very quickly. I have found these External Hard Drives work well for me in keeping my computer free of too many gigabytes...
Bought this drive as local backup but MS Backup fails everytime complaining of sector or related errors. Formatted the drive to try to clear the problem but still no go. Will probably have to return and try another drive.
High Capacity; Portable; Quiet
Unreliable
This is an excellent 2ND Storage System by SEAGATE for storing a lot of files!! For the price, it is an exceptional value!! I would recommend this purchase to a friend.
great price; great value
I have 2 5TB and 1 4TB Seagate Expansion USB 3.0 HDDs running in my Windows 8.1 home media Storage Spaces Pool. All 3 of these drives have random disconnects. I either have to disconnect the power supply to the affected drive, or reboot my Windows 8.1 computer.
I needed to replace a USB hard drive that crashed. I immediately found what I needed and completed the order quickly. In a few days I was back up and running. Greatly appreciate the great service.
TL;DR: Don't buy Seagate if your data is important! This has been a problematic drive since I bought it. The 'power saving' feature would cause it to be detected by my laptop as being disconnected when it went into this mode, which eventually lead to my laptop no longer being able to recognize it...
I purchased the drive to back-up my Linux server. Despite the specification saying only Windows and MAC support, I found on the Seagate website that although not officially supported by Seagate for Linux use, they say their drives should work and indeed I am pleased to say this one works fine.
Excellent drive. Fast with massive storage space. Little bit on the noisy side but no problems
