Samsung Galaxy S III Review - Samsung's worthy new flagship

Last year Samsung solidified its position as the dominant Android smartphone manufacturer with the pack-leading Galaxy S II. The success of the Galaxy S II helped propel Samsung into becoming the largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world.

Blistering performance; great camera; useful software features

Glossy plastic construction; may be too big for some users

Samsung Galaxy S3

T he Samsung Galaxy S3, or the Galaxy S III I9300, is by far the most talked-about phone of 2012. Early last month, Samsung introduced this new high-end Android smartphone at an event organized especially for the occasion, in London. What makes this smartphone so special?

Samsung Galaxy S III Android phone

The most hotly-anticipated smartphone of 2012 is here. The Samsung Galaxy S III has been the subject of intense hype, the type usually only associated with products from a certain fruit company. The Samsung Galaxy S III boasts class leading specifications and moulds that together with slick and relatively intuitive software, but is it worth all the hype?

The Samsung Galaxy S III may not have deserved all of the hype that came with its release, as this is an evolutionary smartphone rather than a revolutionary one. Regardless, Samsung's combination of impressive hardware and excellent, intuitive software makes the Galaxy S III a very compelling package. Definitely the most impressive smartphone on the market right now.

Large, vivid display; Largely intuitive user experience; Excellent performance;

Some niggling TouchWIZ issues; Average battery life;

Samsung Galaxy S III

In technology, and unlike Hollywood movies, a sequel is expected to be significantly better than the former. Rumours ran rampant online in the weeks leading up to the official Galaxy S III (GS3) announcement, but does it have what it takes to be king of the Androids?

Outstanding battery life; Great display; Zippy performance; Great suite of features

No HDMI port; Photo quality is a small step back from the GS2

It may not be quite so scorchingly beautiful as the iPhone 5 or the HTC One X and One X+, but the Samsung Galaxy S3 4G is a worthy update six months on from the original. It's packing (nearly) the latest software, and if you've got those super speeds where you live, you'll reap the benefits.

It's a Samsung Galaxy S3; You don't need us to tell you that this is the big daddy of Android phones; Its design hasn't been changed in anyway, and it's scorchingly, shockingly fast.

While the Samsung Galaxy S3 remains sturdily built, it doesn't have quite the same premium feel to it as the unbelievably light iPhone 5, or the beautiful, curved HTC One X line; It's just a piece of plastic, and design aficionados may not be too happy with that.

Samsung Galaxy S3

Just look at the specs: an in-house Exynos 4412 quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display (1280 x 720), 16 GB of microSD-expandable memory (very nice), 50 GB of free cloud storage

Removable battery / microSD card slot; Quality screen; Responsive and smooth at all times; Simple; intuitive TouchWiz interface; Very good camera; Comprehensive video player; Some original exclusive functions; Low SAR level; Battery life

Design is a bit vanilla; it's nothing new or innovative; Touch-sensitive buttons often end up being pressed accidentally; S-Voice function nothing to write home about

Samsung Galaxy S3

Never has an Android smartphone, never mind a Samsung, been so eagerly awaited. The

Slim and stylish design; SD card and Dropbox for extra storage; innovative features from voice control to proximity sensor; superb video; very good audio; clever interface

Home button has slight lag; some unnecessary proprietary apps

Samsung Galaxy S III

A superb screen and camera, plus a host of software extras means it's a gold star for Samsung once again, notwithstanding the less-than-stellar design

Review: Samsung Galaxy S III

The excitement regarding the launch of the Galaxy S III has been intriguing to watch. It's hard to recall the last time the imminent arrival of a product not made by Apple caused such a buzz in the general community.
