This was very easy to set up, and worked flawlessly with MS Flight Simulator X. After some research on the net, I've also found it is possible to use this with not only X-Plane, but with X-Plane on Mac or Linux as well. It is a little bigger than I expected. Perhaps about 25% bigger than a panel you would find in a Cessna 172 for example. It makes flying IFR in FSX easier and more fun. You can adjust the auto-pilot even while your view on the screen is miles away! Making small adjustments can be a little tricky as the dial is quite sensitive. However I think this is a software issue rather than the device itself. All and all I am very satisfied with my purchase.
