If you are going pro, Nikon or Canon probably are better choices. Pentax lenses are limited and are more expensive. I bought 2 prime lenses (50/1.8 and 35/2.4), they are both very sharp, but the autofocus is not ultrasound. (slow and noisy). They are completely plastic.

I spent around 2 weeks trawling every review that I could find on the internet, comparing the Pentax K50 along with a Canon 700D and the Nikon d5300. It was such a struggle to make the final choice, all get excellent reviews, but the K50 won hands down.

Wow, this is a camera! I will spend many moons learning about all it's features. Image quality is superb. With Pentax in general, I can buy the necessary lenses without having to get rid of them if I upgrade the camera. That was my primary reason for buying a Pentax.

For example, with the TAv mode (shutter and aperture priority mode), you set the shutter speed and aperture and the camera automatically selects an ISO speed to match. For those who prefer complete manual control, there are four pages of customizable features.
