Panasonic Lumix FZ300 : Superzoom 4K

The new Panasonic Lumix FZ300 is a super-zoom with 12-megapixel sensor, 4K video and an impressive 25-600mm lens with f/2.8 constant.

Objective 25-600mm f / 2.8; Excellent build quality; Fast performance; 4K video; Great depth of control

Price challenging for a camera sensor to reduced image quality in the media; "soft" full aperture

Panasonic FZ300

The Panasonic FZ300 improves upon the FZ200 in numerous ways while building upon the same tried-and-true 12.1-megapixel sensor and 24-600mm equivalent f/2.8 lens. The redesigned body, improved EVF, and better tilting display really help the FZ300 handle well out in the field.

Good image quality for its class; Improved ergonomics; Impressive new EVF and rear display; Versatile 24-600mm equivalent f/2.8 lens; Faster autofocus performance; 4K video and 4K Photo features

Bulky camera body; Excessive default noise reduction applied at lower ISOs; Continuous autofocus performance is inconsistent

Overall, the FZ300 is a feature-filled camera that does what it sets out to do, besting your typical superzoom camera thanks to its superior lens. But at $600, it's more expensive than your typical superzoom, and its small sensor struggles to keep up with most other cameras in its price range.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ300

The latest FZ-series camera from Panasonic, the Lumix DMC-FZ300, updates the FZ200 model we reviewed in September 2012. While the FZ300 retains its predecessor's 12.1-megapixel sensor and Leica-branded 24x f/2.8 zoom lens, it introduces a new Venus Engine processor and improved autofocusing system.

Along for the ride - for a while

We used a Lumix FZ300 from Teds as our main camera at the start of an extensive round the world motorcycle trip that included a lot of rough terrain. The camera lived in a bag on the tank through 6000km of African roads and 10,000km in South America.

Panasonic DMC-FZ300K Digital Camera Review

Personal cameras are nothing near what they used to be. It's been about 35 years now since we've had CGI effects in movies, and most smart phones come standard with cameras that can capture what the pros did back in the 80s.

One Minute Review: Lumix DMC-FZ300

Panasonic excels at making fixed-lens cameras that feel like full DSLRs, and the FZ300 is the perfect bridge camera. With a very versatile f/2.8 Leica lens it's just as at home taking landscapes, portraits, or macro shots, and those shots come out looking crisp and colourful thanks to an impressive...

Other interesting features not mentioned in reviews

Video, you can select the shutter speed, fast for capturing birds in flight etc and then go though the video frame by frame and pick out the picture you really want, a lot easier than trying to pick the moment when something does happen as you will miss it just taking a normal pic, this way you get...

Ability to capture larger variety of images; Compact; Control video shutter speed easily; Convenient; Durable; Easy to use; Exceeded expectations; Great for surveillance work with the zoom; Great variety of options for capturing anything; Images direct from video; Inexpensive; Micro within zero...

No good after sunset or low light; No sports option in settings fster shutter speed; Not a fast point and shoot; Poor documentation; Poor quality; Requires tripod for full zoom use; Slow for sports best on video; Slow to use

Awesome!

My son plays hockey and I wanted something that can really catch the action. This camera is amazing although there are soooo many settings I'm still learning how to use it to its potential. The 4K video it takes is stunning. Look forward to see what else this camera will do.
