It's a great camera...

I bought my Nikon D5100 last October, and it was my first major purchase. I had used my parent's DSLR in the past but was ready to upgrade, and get my own. I was torn between this and the Canon Rebel, but I decided to get the Nikon because I already had a Nikor lense from my parent's camera.

Reliable Viewing Screen rotates Easy to use and understand Easy to change lenses

Photos not as sharp as Canon ones

Perfect for most needs!

I wanted a camera that could deliver both high quality photos and high quality video. Though I haven't pushed the camera to it's limits, I have been able to use it in the exact manner I was hoping for.

Easy To Use; Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus; Good Image Quality; Good Image Stabilization; Quiet; Tilt /Swivel LCD

Short Battery Life

I have been looking at purchasing a Nikon for over a year now but hadnt found "the right one". I went to local stores and tried them all out.... I had found this one and played around with it, decided I liked it but didnt like the price as I had to pay extra for the lens.......

Nikon D5100 review

An update to the 12Mp Nikon D5000 , this new £658 model offers some features that may entice current D5000 owners to upgrade, including full 1080p HD video, a bigger and better articulating LCD screen, larger burst mode capacity, expanded ISO, full-time autofocus in video and Live View, and special...

Well-rounded feature set; Top notch image quality (still and video); Excellent low light/high ISO performance; Beautiful 3-inch, high resolution articulated LCD; New special effects; Full time AF in Live View and Video

No dedicated ISO button; Requires AF-S lens with built-in AF motor; Live View and video AF aren't lightning fast; Special Effects parameters must be set in Live View

Nikon D5100

The Nikon D5100 is a excellent camera, updating it's predecessor and offering a competitive alternative to the Canon rival at a similar price and spec. The Canon offers, we feel, more direct control (including on-board wireless flash control), but the Nikon on-screen information is excellently...

Image quality; focusing; video quality; Effects mode gives some quick and fun results; vari-angle screen; low light performance

Controls could be better arranged to give you direct control of shooting features with less dependency on the menus; Effects could offer more settings; camera neither feels simple enough for newcomers or direct enough for the more advanced photographer

Nikon D5100 Digital SLR Review

Joshua Waller reviews the new Nikon D5100 Digital SLR - fresh design by Nikon enables a smaller body.

Excellent video quality; 16.2 megapixel sensor; excellent detail; Excellent ISO performance; Night vision mode - very useful; Great swivel screen; Quite good value for money; Great image quality; Compact; stylish design; 2 year warranty

Quicker access to options could be provided; Live view frame rate drops when using some of the effects; RAW not available when using effects or HDR mode; Slower than expected focusing speed; Slow shutter response in live view

Nikon D5100

The Nikon D5100 is a new 16.2 megapixel DSLR camera that can record Full HD movies at 1920x1280 pixels / 25fps with stereo sound. A high-resolution 3-inch vari-angle LCD monitor makes it easier to compose your shots from difficult angles, while the extensive ISO range of 100-25600 should cope with...

I would buy this product again and again

I find this DSLR camera small and light for carrying everywhere. It is 16MP and that means there can be huge portraits or landscapes without any difficulty. The auto focus is great and it is now my favourite.

Good Sized Screen; Nice Features and Settings; Rugged; Easy To Use; Fast Shutter Speed; Excellent In Low Light; Good Battery Life; Great Resolution

Bad Battery Life
