Grid 2 is a refreshing racing title all-in-all; whilst there is nothing unique about game modes or the games storyline, it more than makes up for it with its impressive visuals, awe-inspiring collisions and superb gameplay.

It's been five years since Codemasters first released GRID , its explosive, energetic racer that took the traditional motorsport of the old TOCA Race Driver games and put them through a Hollywood filter.

Not much there that's genuinely new

The original Race Driver: GRID was my favourite arcade style racer and when I'd finished it I waited for a long time for a replacement, or for something to even come close. The wait is over I'm pleased to say and it's GRID 2 which has filled the gap!

Gamestyle have been fans of this series from day one and we are not talking about GRID, we started on TOCA Touring Car Championship on the PS1. What Codemasters produced was a fantastic racing game that felt as close to a simulation on the console as you would get.

I had pre ordered this game which was released on a friday and It was not delivered till monday (4 days after release) for this reason I will be trying some different places for pre orders from now on as zavvi has let me down in this way before. As for the game itself it is barely average.

after a very long wait and a lot of hype..... we have grid 2 another massive let down, why do developers feel the need to change things that worked well.... this is far removed from the amazing grid1 and i'm pretty disappointed in codemasters.....what happened to the people who created toca etc.???

The age-old question seemingly for every racing game that comes out is whether it is "sim" or "arcade" in its styling. Make no mistake here, while its foundations in the TOCA/Race Driver series were decidedly sim-oriented, GRID 2 offers a distinct arcade-styled experience.

Codemasters Grid was one of the milestone racing titles of this generation.
