Gears of War: Judgment review

Gears of War: Judgment is, simply put, a Gears of War game and a fitting end to the Xbox 360's generation. It goes back to retell a story that isn't all that important, but does so by sprucing up the gameplay with a more intense pace and a rankings system that forces you to rethink your strategy in...

+ New mission structure; + Tweaked control scheme; + Optional Declassify missions; + Fun multiplayer

- Very repetitive, - A few glitches, - A.I; teammates are sometimes useless

Gears of War: Judgment Review

For me, as someone who primarily uses my Xbox 360, Gears of War has been a little bit of a weird experience for me. It's one of those games that I've never really looked forward to but every time they've come I've decided to pick them up, play them, and enjoy them.

Gears of War: Judgment

Gears of War: Judgment is a strange game. After three generation-defining blockbusters, it's odd that a fourth outing is squeezed into the end of the 360's life with a far shorter development cycle than any of the numbered sequels and no Marcus Fenix in the main role.

OXCGN's Gears of War: Judgment?Review

I'll start this review by saying four very sad words, ‘Rest in Peace Horde'. The first thing I noticed when I put Gears of War Judgment in was that lack of horde mode. This meant two things for me – firstly, the game was going to have to be that much better to impress me, and secondly, I was delayed...

Gears of War: Judgment review

The original Gears of War got so much right that subsequent games were by necessity refinements rather than retoolings of a winning formula. However, with Gears lead designer Cliff Bleszinski out and a new co-development team in the mix, is change afoot? Ben Allan takes a look.

The same old enjoyable Gears gunplay is present and accounted for; Point defence missions and the declassified system help add variety to campaign; There is no sign of a gloomy Marcus Fenix trying to get in touch with his feelings; Overrun is a great addition

It's the same old Gears of War gunplay that we've seen a lot of already; There isn't really a lot of innovation or many new elements on show; The popular Horde and Beast modes have been excised completely

E3 2012 Gears of War Judgment First Impressions

Gears of War has been a flagship series for Microsoft and, to date, it's racked up a whopping 18.8 million units sold. It created a new approach to third-person shooters, introducing a groundbreaking cover system, a slower - almost clunky - method of movement, and insane levels of both violence and...

Gears of War Judgment review – Halvo, Goodbye

Fan favourite Damon Baird, the blonde-haired snarky and least overtly muscular member of Gears of War's Delta squad has always stood on the side-lines, cracking wise, the narrative focusing mostly on Marcus Fenix and his chest-bumping bromance with the increasingly sullen Dom Santiago.

Review: Gears of War: Judgment "no Marcus or Dom, more Gears"

We all were surprised when the new Gears of war game was announced, it felt so soon after the amazing Gears of War 3, but we were shown a new direction with a prequel, something I was hoping for since Gears of War 1, but no Marcus or Dom this time, make way for Damon Baird in Gears of War Judgment!
