Garmin Vivosmart

The Garmin Vivosmart fitness tracker is smart, capable and very well designed. You can control smartwatch-style notifications, as well as accurately track your steps, calories burned and sleep.

The unique touchscreen is much easier to use than those on many of the other fitness trackers we reviewed

The Vivosmart doesn't keep track of your active daily minutes

1 week in

I have had this fitness band for only a week. I like the caller ID/ e-mail alerts. Part of why I picked this unit was the fact that it would vibrate when I received a call, text, or e-mail.

Comfortable; Quality Construction; Small Size - Light Weight; Water Resistant

Not 24/7 wearability or water rating of 5 ATM

I want to start off by saying I loved this device, it did everything I wanted in a wearable device. It had the right mixture of smart watch and fitness activity tracker. The biggest reason I bought this device was its claim of 24/7 wearability and its water rating of 5 ATM.

Perfect for swimmers.

Great device. One of the fewer that are really water proof and not just resistant. Works great with iPhone and the Garmin app. I had it for over a month and no issues! Target has a large FitBit display but the VivoSmart is a far superior unit for the same price.

Not completely satisfied

The Garmin app needs improvement in sleep and limited workout information. Sleep is only a graph. Prefer Up app by Jawbone for sleep and logging in workouts. My fitness app also needs a lot of help as well. Premium app for My fitness is expensive. Twice as much as Jawbone.

Comfortable; Quality Construction; Water Resistant

Broke after two weeks

I was very happy to get this Vivosmart. It was working quite well, pushing me to walk more often during the day and waking me up in the morning with sharp vibrations. I also very much liked the fact that it is waterproof so I don't have to take it off all the time and the OLED screen which turns on...

Could be great - If only it worked... .. .

Great bit of kit if only it lasted! I've had a Vivosmart for ten months now and my third has just died. This time instead of the 'lines of death' it has just turned off and refuses to come back to life!

With the almost inevitable rise of smartwatches (which still hasn't quite hit the mainstream), the humble fitness tracker could soon have a hard time justifying its demands on your wrist real-estate. As such, they too are getter smarter.

Garmin Vivosmart review

Fitness bands are now a well established part of the tech canon, and they're aimed at a specific kind of person – does this sound like you? You're someone who, halfway through the decade, decided to get moving. Naturally, you want to log these new bursts of momentum – else what's the point, right?

Quick Review: Garmin vivosmart

Last year was a chock a block full of fitness-focused wearables , with Garmin's underrated vivofit (review) proving a surprisingly handy wearable. Part of its lure was the high accuracy of its movement capturing and easy-to-use functionality.

Good comfortable fit; Responsive and easy to navigate interface; Accurate information recording

Setup takes a while; Far more expensive than the vivofit
