Fujifilm X-A5

The X-A5 is a nice little snapshooters' camera that provides above-average resolution for stills capture across a decent range of ISO settings. The flip-up monitor works well for 'selfies' and the touch screen is easy to use, although recording movies can become a point-and-pray exercise in bright...

Fujifilm X-A5

The Fujifilm X-A5 is the most entry-level mirrorless camera from Fujifilm, falling below all X-E and X-T family members, both in terms of price and performance. Just looking at images from the X-A5 though, one would be surprised these come from such a low-cost digital camera.

Extremely low image noise until ISO 1600; Good dynamic-range; Nicely saturated colors; Sharp LCD with good viewing angle; Minimal shutter-lag; Generally responsive; High number of external controls; Good battery-life

Tendency to over-expose; Strong noise-reduction; Slow autofocus; Less than 100% LCD coverage; Poor Auto WB; Not Exposure-Priority; Below average shot-to-shot speeds; 2s Video capture delay

Fujifilm X-A5 Entry-Level Mirrorless Camera Review

The Fujifilm X-A5 is the latest entry-level mirrorless camera from Fujifilm, yet offers advanced features including full manual controls, a flash hot-shoe, and raw shooting. It's also easy to use with a 3inch tilting touch-screen, and the screen can be tilted 180 degrees so you can use it for...

Excellent colour reproduction; Great noise performance; Compact 15-45mm kit lens; Face / eye detection focus; Mic socket

15fps 4K video; Limited ISO range when shooting raw; Menus feel slow at times

Fujifilm X-A5

by William Brawley | Posted 07/03/2018 Although Fujifilm makes some expensive X Series cameras, it hasn't forgotten about the entry-level or budget-conscious out there. Coming in right at $600 with a kit lens, the Fujifilm X-A5 is one of Fuji's most affordable X Series mirrorless cameras.

Impressive overall image quality; Excellent high ISO performance; Very good dynamic range from RAW files; Full HD video at 60 fps; Good battery life, Impressive overall image quality, Excellent high ISO performance for APS-C sensor, Very good dynamic range from RAW files, Bright colors with good hue...

Slower-than-average AF speed; 4K video capped at 15fps; Very slow startup to first shot time with new power-zoom kit lens; Sluggish single-shot cycle times, Default sharpening and contrast too high, Slower-than-average AF speed despite new hybrid AF system, Inconsistent AF performance (missed focus,...

Fujifilm X-A5 Review: Mirrorless Camera Comes Up Short

With this camera's clunky, somewhat-dated menu system, slightly bulky camera-body design (at least with the kit lens), lackluster video features and inconsistent autofocus, it's hard to recommend the X-A5, even though it costs a bit less than most mirrorless models.

Takes good photos; Relatively inexpensive; Includes a built-in flash and hot shoe; 3x optical power zoom; Easy-to-use mobile app

Controls and settings should be better organized; Touch-screen LCD doesn't swing out to side; No electronic viewfinder; Shoots 4K video at just 15 fps; Sluggish autofocus in low light; Bulkier than others (with kit lens

Fantastic camera, as well a a conversation starter!

Have had this camera a few weeks now, and I am really enjoying using it. I've always been interested in photography, but am no way an expert, but have found the X-A5 to be a solid entry point to develop my skills.

Fujifilm X-A5 review

The Fujifilm X-A5 is an entry-level mirrorless camera with no viewfinder – but it's still impressive...

• Sharp; top-quality images; • Great colour and tonal reproduction

• Bigger and heavier than rivals; • Autofocus could be faster

Fujifilm X-A5

The Fujifilm X-A5 sports an APS-C CMOS sensor, offers a touchscreen and manages to take some very good looking photos

Good high ISO performance; Light and easy to use; Good battery life

Kit lens focusses slowly; Burst mode not very fast; AF tracking unreliable
